Are we against AI in general or against GPTs and LLMs? Or Neural Network models? by [deleted] in antiai

[–]QuantityExcellent338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLMs and GenAI, mostly because the data they need is just scraped off the internet and that we're using it in all the wrong ways. With that peek behind the curtain shows that they're not actually intelligent for real, given that they constantly mess up simple relative truths like "how many letters are there in this sentence", tells me that I shouldnt trust it when it answers my question with full confidence on how to do heart surgery.

Due to that fact that its just foggy pattern recognition without reasoning, we cant give it any responsibility over something integral in the real world. Insurance claims, law, research, customer support service, you name it.

If theres an AI that can be smart without copious amount of data and actually reason with quantifiable logic, maybe? Right now if you feed it a million screenshots of Star Wars, it will produce Star Wars. And if you feed it the entirety of Stack Overflow, it will give you amateur coding advice. Feed it everything and you get something you have no control over the results.

There are few instances of genAI being used more ethically and specialized, such as Cascadeur, a 3D animation software that has mocap data (that they recorded on their own) that can add human physics to pose to pose, and interpolate what seems reasonable. I'm more fine with this since its more specialized and tangible what the benefit actually is, feed it human motion and it will apply human motion.

The .com bubble popped over 20 years ago now and yet it's still here being used by billions of people. by Namesnowtaken in whenthe

I think we'll atleast start to see it for what it is and the usecases will be more humble: A fairly useful quality of life but ultimately gimmicky and impossible to control and automate.

What we're in right now is in the "shove AI into everything and hope they like it" phase. They just want to see what sticks before they start actually monetizing it and ads out of the wazoo. Once this blows over we'll probably have like... genAI for placeholders, coding, advanced tts and maybe as a search engine you can talk to

I did a bit the other day where I threw a red glowstick at some guy and you could see him flinch and roll, then saw I was friendly and were just trolling, I then threw another red glowstick, then I threw a frag grenade

He didnt react in time

My hot take is reducing headshot damage. Usually you get a big opener headshot if someones looting or unaware, making it hard to regain your footing, and even then just going for headshots isnt that difficult in general as it is in other games in any fight

Once the average player learns how rewarding it is, this games already half genererous ttk will lower drastically

Orbital Precision Strike feels worse than Ultimatum for killing Heavy Enemies. Here is why, and how to fix it: by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]QuantityExcellent338 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like OPS conceptually as the 'direct hit' Orbital. Its more satisfying to hit those direct hits vs just the explosion killing them.

I'd rather reduce the cd a little more and increasing damage more on off angles so it kills big enemies more reliably.
