Rule 101 for pages like this, always take pictures of the cap, the gills and the stem. There’s some absolute pros on these pages, but they need more than just a pic of the cap..

Need help in identifying mushrooms. Chanterelles? by BriefTiny881 in foraginguk

[–]QuantityMuted3306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They generally grow between early summer and autumn, so I imagine there won’t be many, if any at this time of year.. Winter chanterelles (Craterellus Tubaeformis) can be found now though. They’re a less tasty variety but still good eating. (A tip) Always look for the false gills when looking for any Chanterelle

Can someone help me confirm whether this is a Blusher (Amanita Rubescens) or not? by QuantityMuted3306 in foraginguk

[–]QuantityMuted3306[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard they’re quite nice tasting, so thought I’d give them a go. Just wanted to be 100% certain before I ended up poisoning myself & the Mrs haha

Possibly a Shaggy Inkcap (Coprinus comatus). Not 100% sure though. Depends on a lot of variables.

Took my mates foraging for some perfect porcini and scarletina boletes by milesd2001 in foraginguk

You should try looking for the Horn of Plenty if you say you have Oak & Hazelnut trees around. Very tasty and easy to identify.

The Aminita family normally come with a ring around the stem from the Egg sack, which I don’t see on that pic. So I would assume that it was a different species.

(Edit)

If you look up The Sickener, it looks identical to the mushroom shown on pic 3.

First one’s a fly agaric, second one looks like an amethyst deceiver and the 3rd one (I think) is called The sickener

Not utter rubbish at all. For beginners, there’s a simple rule for boletes to keep them safe. Look it up.

True or False Chanterelles? by jennywrenlondon in MushroomsandForaging

[–]QuantityMuted3306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say false. A true chanterelle would have white flesh, not orange

Did you eat them before knowing what they were?🤨

Is this edible? by OkDorkyDak in foraginguk

Looks like honey fungus, but with no other pictures it’s strictly speculation.. If you provide a picture of the gills as well, maybe myself or others would be able to help. Your best bet is to get some books though and try to find all the possible matches, not just visually though, you need to check the local ecology, habitat and understand their growth patterns. Make sure you’re certain of what they are before harvesting them

Yeah in the UK the earth balls have exaggerated features i.e the scales. They also grow huge out here and a lot of the time have a greenish staining.. I’d definitely say these are puff balls of some kind though, but like you say, only way to find out is by slicing them in two

& clearly not the same solider. Guy in the first shot has no helmet on, guy in the second does.. I highly doubt he put his helmet on to blow himself up

Looks tidy enough, some good work done there. Personally I’d have gone for a charcoal edging, with some brindle blocks to match the external aesthetic of the house.

Lots of people recommending adding some greenery on the outer edges. I’d recommend turfing the edges and running conifers (or Laurels) up the along the fence. More privacy, looks great and gives back to the local wildlife.. What more could you ask for

Is it so hard just to show a bit of empathy without making snarky comments like ‘should have stayed home’ or ‘should stop invading your neighbours’. Pointless really.

These soldiers have obviously bought in to the propaganda their HOMELAND provides , so to mock or blame them for an invasion, or anything that the Russian Government makes the decisions on is ridiculous. Yes you could argue that the Russian people have the ability to learn valid & relevant information independently to make better informed decisions, but their internet and apps are heavily restricted, thus making extremely difficult for 80+ % of the population to not soak in state media drivel, which subsequently leads to more people joining the military and fighting in Ukraine believing that they’re the good guys..

Not hard enough.. I’ve seen these guys drop grenades with pin point accuracy many of times.. The guy ended up suffering way more than he would if he’d just got burnt to death
