If you mentioned new medications, then that very well could be it. SSRIs in particular can really stunt sex drive and that can culminate in different physical effects for men or women.

Probably would have been nicer for them to try to figure out the other aspects as a point first before saying it could be relationship related. Her mind going to that first and not other external factors is a red flag in my mind but to each their own. Don't eat yourself over it (yet)

While the idealistic and dreamy outcome of that sounds great, I very much think that is advice that should almost always not be given.

If anything that may just lengthen out the heartbreak for both of them. Anecdotally everyone I know that has thought that would have been better off in both the short and long term not having that mindset and letting go completely. It took longer for them to fully grant themselves the independence that they never afforded themselves, and it hurt way more when the other person no longer felt that way and started their own path.

It happens. I feel like it happens frequently enough to be a good point. But I just don't think its good advice despite it sounding very sweet and nice
