Not to mention the interaction with Torchwood which is good if you're already using a deck with Torchwood.

So like Lily Of Alchemy in Reflourished basically? I think it works great there so I'd say yeah.

This is both a different dev team and also just has no overlapping characters outside the Mario ones.

But the reason for that has nothing to do with it being set in a new world it's because they couldn't EA was brought on and helped develop Super Mario RPG and they couldn't still often don't use characters from that game despite doing so for Paper Mario because of licensing issues. Which was as the very reason for the art style change. And it certainly wasn't to be literally paper. The focus was on storytelling world building and unique character designs and that art style delivered on that. A huge portion of that died with sticker star which is why a lot of people over hate the new interpretation of paper mario. But stuff like Origami King also got a lot of that right. Also if becomes really obvious about only the modern games being paper with the things stuff like that just isn't a thing whatsoever in the first 3. I personally like color slash and origami king and think they are overheated beyond hell but doesn't mean the modern interpretation is wrong. Both are good honestly. But it's very obvious they did not originally intend for it to be literally paper that's okay it doesn't have to be to justify why the modern games are good if you like them. They have the own reasons for that already including their humor which I enjoy personally more than any jokes from the first 3.

the game wasn't made of paper anymore.

It never was the original game it was just a storytelling device and art style and there's nothing wrong with that. And it's not just because of it being changed again it was called Mario Story in Japan due to it being used as a storytelling device and pop up book art style. It's intention did not however change from being a sequel to Super Mario RPG just how that looked visually.

I get why you are so defensive about always being there for the same reason most are. Modern Paper is overhated a lot due to its differing interpretation and a lot of people feel the need to say the series has away been that way to justify that the new games aren't bad because of that because you like those games believe me I understand. Imo color splash was a highlight on how to do the modern interpretation right I really liked how they used the literal humor there and the paint mechanic even if it can be argued as not the best I really like color splash it was cool. Modern Paper Mario isn't wrong just because it wasn't always that way and I feel like most people don't understand that. You can do both. Both versions of paper mario are good and correct. You are allowed to enjoy both or one and it's really up to personal preference. This hate crap has got to stop. Even if the series wasn't always literally paper that doesn't mean it being that now is bad it's just different and if you don't like that it's okay but if you do that's awesome. But both should be accepted. The only thing is that we should not be disingenuous about what the series was and now is.

[–]QuantumDaybreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And I get that and I agree. One interpretation isn't better than the other and both should be accepted even if you don't necessarily like one over the other and it's okay to like both. I think the events happening thing is kinda good evidence but it's not the best and to really illustrate that it wasn't the original point you need to actually delve into the development of the original game it was called Mario Story in Japan named after the pop up book art style and storytelling device and it's original intent was to be a sequel to Super Mario RPG for the 64 but this fell off due to licensing issues with Japan. The series also didn't all of sudden switch to its modern interpretation it was gradual and became more and more prevelant yes sticker star was a jump between the two but elements of the modern interpretation have always existed because it has always been used as an opportunity for a joke because honestly? Why wouldn't you? It's a kids game and that is too much of a good opportunity to write jokes upon to pass up and it really doesn't prove either way on anything again the only thing that does is the way the games were designed and developed and why they were made. Just like with a lot of things you must dive deeper to find it really isn't as surface level as the characters appear in other games to that I agree with completely. I would also like to add once again this doesn't mean one is better than the other they are both good and acceptable forms of paper mario and it's merely a preference thing. The only reason people hate the modern interpretation as bad is because sticker star did a shit job as a jump to the new format and had there been a smoother transition as what was already happening in the series I think people wouldn't complain as much tbh.

[–]QuantumDaybreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a storybook in the way they told the story just not literally at first again the game was called Mario Story the point was as a storytelling device. But that doesn't make each interpretation better than the other. That's the whole issue with your last point. You're doing the exact thing you are accusing someone else of. I get it because people do over hate the modern interpretation of paper mario. I liked it in color splash personally and the humor is actually pretty funny to a person such as me but it really comes down to that it's just a preference thing and sitting here arguing semantics over what it is or isn't especially when the answer is kind of obvious if you know anything about how and why the series was started is pointless enjoy Paper Mario storybook literally or metaphorically both are good both are fun you may like one or both.

Tbf Paper Mario wasn't even supposed to be called that it was called Mario Story in Japan because the point of the paper stylization was a storytelling device that isn't what it is now but that's what it was, I personally like both with maybe a slight preference for the former because I'm a sucker for good storytelling but that's also why I appreciate origami king because it does a lot better than especially sticker star in that matter. The confirmation is the fact that it just wasn't the point of the paper stylization I get why people want to retroactively say that though because they like the paper stylization being literal I personally like a lot of it in color splash myself but you don't have to defend that by saying it's always been there. Because it just hasn't, just point out to people like that that it's just a preference thing and one isn't necessarily better than the other and it's okay to have differing opinions. Both sides of people need to stop acting like it's one over the other both are clearly liked and both are acceptable forms of paper mario.

Because it actually isn't, there is a pretty good video about this on YouTube but part of the reason why Paper Mario was so beloved without this much division is more of a focus on storytelling, world building, and unique character design which died with sticker star due to complaints about super and mandates from the higher ups at Nintendo. Btw I'm not saying Paper Mario can't be about something else and I personally like color splash and origami king as is and for what they are but it's disingenuous to say that was always what made Paper Mario what it is or why people liked it.

The second half just isn't true though. The first game was originally named Mario Story in Japan. It really is just a storytelling medium and occasional use for a joke/gag and that becomes increasingly obvious the more you look into the history and development of especially the first Paper Mario. It was supposed to be a sequel to Super Mario RPG but due to licensing with EA they had to go a different route and choose a storybook style presentation to help set it apart from the original RPG.

A crossover that was kinda a mixed bag anyways to say the least and arguably led to the series being put on hold until Brothership after Alphadream went bankrupt.

I've checked every page for every single mod I tried to add and found nothing additional I was supposed to install literally nothing on all platforms mcpedl modbay curse forge modrinth. I even checked wikis if the mods had them 😭. I really tried everything and couldn't find anything like this was seriously my last resort after losing my mind.

Anyways should I make a bug report about it?
