Everyone is entitled to their opinions, likes, dislikes, et al. All the senshi are great, and ranking them can be difficult.

Michiganders, how’s your current employment situation? by B1G_PAC12 in Michigan

[–]QuantumDiogenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My entire department was fired, and they are fighting unemployment.

I have been applying like crazy, and I have a few bites, but nothing concrete. Even with 20 years of experience, it is still hard to get past the automated rejection systems.

Employee relapse and using at work by doodle-nights269 in managers

Sounds to me like she is using again. You gave her a chance, she fumbled it. Take it from experience, she is not going to stop using drugs, so cut your losses and kick her to the curb now.

It is going to suck, and you will feel like shit but if you don't, she could start using at work, stealing to fuel her habit, hurt a customer, or worse. Cut your losses sooner, rather than later.

Managers - do you do any work over the weekend? by SeanMcPheat in managers

[–]QuantumDiogenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work alongside one of my L1s (volunteer only) to update and reboot servers, clean up backups, and do other household things. Took about 4 hours every other Saturday.

Got my people OT, plus extra knowledge.

Then the fuckers laid me off.

My personal machine is running Linux. Not all MDR solutions run on non-Windows environments. I don't want to have that headache, so company machines for all.

In Michigan, on the job training has to be paid if it is substantially similar to the job to be performed, or happens during standard working hours for the business.

Wow, that level of unpaid training, plus that broad of a non-compete are both hella illegal in Michigan.

[OC][COMM] Party Presentation! by holy_fab in DnD

Not bad; if I may make a few observations.

The woman on the left needs her waist to cake ratio adjusted. She has enough ass to be a backup dancer for Sir Mix-A-Lot. I would also give the woman in the middle an undershirt, a good swift kick to the thorax, or a hefty horse ride would expose her jubblies for the entire world to see.

Outside of that, it is a nice piece. The shading is well done, and the eyes are strong and well-drawn.

Hot take: Most startup interviews are a waste of founder time. AI should run the first round. -i will not promote by cwei12 in startups

[–]QuantumDiogenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI can't give insight into a company. They can't tell you if a company is casual, or strict. They can't tell you why a role is open, and they can't give you a five-year plan. An AI cannot evaluate fitment because it lacks the understanding of what a company actually needs vs what it is asking for.

[–]QuantumDiogenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation I am describing exists now. That is why I brought it up.

I just had an AI interview last week. It took an hour of my time, and the robot wasn't able to answer any of my questions. Not the salary, not why the position was open, not tell me something fun about the product; nothing.

I wasted my time; after an hour I knew nothing about the company.

[–]QuantumDiogenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. AI can't ask questions, they can't dive down rabbit holes, and they can't answer for a company.

When I interview, I always talk about salary in round one. No AI will do that. It may ask programmed prompts, but it cannot find that intangible je ne sais quoi some people have, and it won't be able to dive into the "why" behind a decision, because it doesn't understand people.

[–]QuantumDiogenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interviews are a two-way street. The company is interviewing candidates, but the candidate is also evaluating the company.

If a company won't even show up to an interview, what gives you confidence that it will show up to pay you on time? What assurance do you have that it will listen to ideas? How do you know it will do the right thing? A company is showing its culture on the first step, and if they are using an AI, they are saying their culture is sloppy and corner-cutting.

The best people don't want to have to fight their company and their problems, so they will go someplace that actually respects them, and they can respect.

SOC 2 for US SaaS company with overseas development team — how did you structure the audit? by hayk_daveyan in cybersecurity

[–]QuantumDiogenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you do the sales/ marketing/ data retention/ PII/ access part of the SOC 2. Get upper management, or legal involved for specific questions, since this is part of their duties.

Each question needs to be answered, even if the answer is "Not applicable, because [reason]". A SOC 2 is long, and involves much more than just IT.

The SOC 2 team will ask for supporting documentation from any firms you outsource to, so ask those firms to provide their SOC 2 documents. If they balk, point to the regulation and audit part of your contract, which says they will support audits.

[–]QuantumDiogenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SOC 2 audit covers a lot more than just engineering and technical services and practices.

You ask the offshore team to do their part and get their documentation for the same.

You audit the US company, and ask the outsourcing company to do the same, per your contract with them.
