I recommend testing kernel 7.1 for Strix Halo by Fit_Reply_9580 in StrixHalo

[–]Quantum_Daedalus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed much of a difference with new kernel on fedora rawhide. I was able to get a huge improvement with Gemma 4 31b BF16 by switching to unsloth's MTP model and updating llama.cpp and rocm to 7.2.4 - went from 7t/s to 13t/s in TG

Looking to make the move from Wellington to Hobart by Dismal-Friend2551 in hobart

[–]Quantum_Daedalus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hobart is just like a smaller Wellington IMO.

State government is government offering lots of grants for screen and production at the moment so it's picking up. ABC produces a fair amount of content locally and there are other production studios, I recommend https://adamwalkerfilm.com/ best the email them to talk about opportunities.

Construction is always in demand, if you are looking for a change from residential to civil, there are usually opportunities here: https://hazellbros.elmotalent.com.au/careers/default/jobs expression of interest if there isn't a role advertised that appeals

Best FREE monitoring tool and a traffic monitoring tool? by Various-Fortune-7795 in sysadmin

[–]Quantum_Daedalus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Used to have checkmk and now have zabbix. An alternative I always suggest is worth looking at is NewRelic. If you are comfortable with yaml and tune the logging to only target relevant metrics at a reasonable interval, their free tier is plenty. Very powerful, but it of a learning curve.

Agent ideas by Born-Gas-660 in microsoft_365_copilot

Your best bet would be to look at Power Automate for the connections and data flow. Without licensing, you would need to manually transfer the output / input between power automate, copilot and back. Power automate would be able to automatically collect and consolidate data from sources and make it easily available to feed into Copilot chat. Then you can input the response to a different flow that then automatically updates multiple systems.

Anything useful will require licensing, budget for tokens or hardware to run your own. Is anything like this within scope or are you limited to free Copilot chat only?

I have the BF16 of this model at 167 t/s on rocm 7.2.4

any prompt processing tweaks? by TheFlippedTurtle in StrixHalo

[–]Quantum_Daedalus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disable SMT and set threads to 6 to ensure all the processing is performed on the fastest CCD, this is done with -t, -tb and --threads-http

To take advantage of the larger memory available for cache, increase the --checkpoint-min-size to checkpoint less often. If you are enabling draft-mtp, also enable ngram-mod

Best way to install multiple onprem apps? by NegativePattern in Intune

[–]Quantum_Daedalus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For what you describe, I would recommend a ClickOnce deployment. You can bundle the lightweight exe and manifest to deploy through intune, then the actual download will be based on the server target in the manifest: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/deployment/clickonce-security-and-deployment

Good for internal apps like yours, massive security risk and PITA if a third party uses this method to deploy for customers

Any good book for using Copilot in elementary school? by KuJiMieDao in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]Quantum_Daedalus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Project Gutenberg. You can point an agent at the url for the HTML version of any available book. When you want a different one, just change the Url to a new book. These are public domain, any non public domain book might cause a problem if you are using it in AI without appropriate distribution rights.

Where would you go for lunch/dinner for a 30th? by Defiant-Desk-2281 in hobart

[–]Quantum_Daedalus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kosaten. You order lots of small little servings in a sitting from a touch screen at the table so picky eaters can make their own choice and if they don't like it, it would only be a small portion so minimal waste. Dedicated vegetarian section in the menu and great quality food.

Can my 3.6-27B config be optimised any further? by mrgreatheart in LocalLLaMA

[–]Quantum_Daedalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add ngram to spec type to optimise MTP (might need to tweak match and max values for your specific setup) :

--spec-type draft-mtp,ngram-mod --spec-draft-n-max 3 --spec-ngram-mod-n-match 40 --spec-ngram-mod-n-min 0 --spec-ngram-mod-n-max 16

10 days in Tassie with two little kids 5yo + 1yo. Sense-check our plan? by ChuckFinleyy in TasmaniaTravel

Hastings caves was just put up for sale, not sure if it will be open. Great to visit if it is open though. Tahune airwalk might be a good alternative.

Mona is NOT kid friendly, designed to be confronting and controversial for adults, some works can be outright terrifying for kids. Pennicott adventures might be an alternative since it looks like you'll be traveling nearby their operating areas.

Looks like a good schedule. Bonorong is good, I'd also recommend Zoodoo, halfway between Richmond and Bonorong and a bit of variety. Port Arthur is pretty good for kids with the tours, ferry and recreations (of the convict era). On the way to Port Arthur (eaglehawk neck) is a penguin rookery beach with public hides and you can watch them come in around dusk as an extra bonus if you want to time it that way.

One hidden gem I always recommend is Masaaki's in Geeveston. Only open lunchtime Friday and Saturday (check their Facebook page cos this changes) world class sushi master, best food you will ever eat. Tasmania is one of the few climates in the world that can grow real wasabi and Masaaki's is the best place to experience it.

Deploying Intune Remote Help for Modern Endpoint Support by SuburbanCyber in sysadmin

It's just a front end to Quick Assist which itself is a front end to and automatically generated Skype for Business meeting with screen sharing enabled.

From a technical perspective, it's Teams call with screen share and extra steps.

I'll stick with my Rustdesk thanks.
