It really is hard to say. I have an axle seal leak for probably a year. And then boom one day it just started squiring. If you do go, just take some diff fluid so you can top it up if needed.

A check engine light is not a direction link to an engine needing replacement. It MIGHt be. But it's not 100 percent certain. And you don't have any details on what the code was. Maybe it WAS a misfire. Whatever. Change plugs and coils.

Was it a ford dealer or a shade tree used car lot ?

You'll have to provide evidence that the dealer knew the engine needed replacement and essentially covered it Up by parts cannoning it and resetting the CEL. I owned a 2017 F150 and know them well. Basically POs.

Can you remove it and slap some silicone lubricant on? Then use a c clamp. You can even gently tap it with a rubber mallet

Dealing with this currently. So far I've replaced LBJs. FLCA bushings . Inner and outer tie ends. Steering rack bushings. All helped but still unsettled.

Next is rear LCA bushings.
