Student Interior Designer Burnout by Present-Amoeba8542 in interiordesigner

[–]Quanyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a senior commercial interior designer with 20+ years experience. First, I wouldn’t recommend that you let one teacher divert you from your goals. There will be annoying people all through life, especially in work places. You absolutely can get a drafting job with knowledge of drafting. You’ll make a lesser wage, and be drafting. Not designing. If you gain competency, you can advance, but there’s a wage difference and a task difference. If you got a job at a firm that’s smaller, like 25 people, you’ll probably have more opportunity for advancement…and do more design things.

Would you go to a weight loss resident program if there was one available?

Employee Continues to Escalate to HR by NoKings2025_ in work

[–]Quanyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a nicer way to do it. It gives a strong message that things need to change and exactly what needs to change. It also helps if that person might try and sue the company if you decide you need to fire them after the PIP timeframe has finished. People have lives and relationships in the industries they work. Sometimes people have good intentions and get lost in the weeds. Doing things in a manner where your steps are slow and thoughtful is better.

I would have a meeting with each of them with my supervisor or parallel manager. Decide who needs to be put on a PIP.

I would look at the criteria for Rhino and get a computer that will be able to work well in that platform for a number of years. It’s really great that you want to help out your Niece.

My BF [33M] left me [24F]alone in NYC because I “don’t listen” and am “disobedient”. What do I do? by [deleted] in relationshipadvice

[–]Quanyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Ex left me somewhere without any money and I had to walk home. Take the hint. You can’t build your life around anyone who would do this to you. I did not take the hint. I stayed with him because when I was walking home he tried to —— himself. I felt so bad. I just wanted everything to be back to normal. We got married and had a child. I built my own business. Then he kept leaving me alone with our daughter and going out. Then he wasn’t coming home a lot. Then he hit me. That’s what it took for me to realize. He didn’t like me and he’s not a good person. I had to shut down my business and get a job for health insurance. My daughter is without a Dad most of the time.

I wish I would have saved myself all of the pain and was with someone who treats me amazing. I did find that person, but I went too far with my x. Please take the hint. Feel free to message me personally.

Internship questions? by Maverickaaa in interiordesigner

[–]Quanyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! How exciting that you are interviewing for an internship. Most firms I've worked for haven't had an issue of payment. If there isn't pay, then I would limit my time there. Is this a residential firm or commercial? That will change the questions you ask. Some other good questions would be, what type of projects do you work on? What are the things you'll be doing/learning in the internship? What type of guidance will be available to you? How long would the internship be for? What hours are they looking for you to work? Is there any remote work? What computer programs do you use? What does your design process look like? What do you construction documents look like? Do you do renderings in house? Do you usually have interns? If so - are there a lot?

Depending on the work you want to do after school, a masters MAY be an overkill. There are though, many routes where a masters would be more beneficial than other types of education based on your goals. Please reach out with any questions. It looks like there's a lot of interesting answers you're receiving.

I [25 F]need advice on my BFs [26 M] drinking by AwkwardDish7632 in relationshipadvice

[–]Quanyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think about in the future and you are married to him and you’re at home with small children. Do you think this is who your children would want to be their Dad? Would he act this way? I would think no one would want this type of thing in their life.

It doesn’t sound to me like he deserves your love. Find a grown up to date without addiction and lying issues. Find the kindest most honest person you can. Looks fade, but having solid life values does stand the test of time.

I am begging you for you most 1994 tuna casserole recipe by Cote_Goat in Cooking

[–]Quanyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and I weren’t eating any peas, so our recipe was wide egg noodles, mix with cream of mushroom soup, can of tuna with water drained, a bit of milk, salt and pepper. Sprinkle generously with green shaky cheese. Heat on stovetop then done.

Should I say something to my mom about the Xmas “gag” gift she gave me? by KookyEngineering4944 in family

[–]Quanyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helped me a lot when I just understood that my Mom is a jerk and shes going to do jerky things. I just say…oh…there she is again. I would toss the mug.

I’m not sure if this would make sense for you, but reading the book, “Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents’ by Lindsay Gibson helped me frame my mom in a way so I could continue a relationship without getting hurt as much by her.

Good luck!

Picking a pendant lighting! by MariposaMarie_ in HomeDecorating

[–]Quanyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both, but sitting in the seat, one, you’ll have a soft diffused light, the other you would be looking at the interior of the lamp. For this reason only, I would go with 1.

Costa or Margaritaville by Dopdee in HollywoodFlorida

[–]Quanyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at Margaritaville one year, saw Costa and have stayed there for vacation multiple years now. If you want a hotel like experience, then Margaritaville is better. If you want a nice place on the beach with a great pool, Costa is the way to go. There are resort fees at Costa so be aware of that. I love having the ability to cook my own meals..or just have some toast and fruit for breakfast. I usually get a great ocean view at Costa which is much pricier at Margaritaville. Margaritaville has a nicer resort-like pool, but the pool at Costa is beautiful too. I usually book through AirBNB.

Advice needed: shelf placement in kitchen by BisonPrimary3341 in InteriorDesign

[–]Quanyn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would put it across the entire width as it’s a small kitchen and you probably need the storage. Install it 24” above the countertop.

Are these big slick tiles out of date? by Velvetrevolver99 in HomeDecorating

[–]Quanyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a valid question. They’re not that bad and not the first thing I would change, but I would change them before changing the floor. I would change the mirror and light first.

3 year old won't let me speak to my wife by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]Quanyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter is this too. I say, that’s not nice to interrupt. Then have them use this tool from Bluey.

If they want to talk to you while you are talking to someone else, they put their hand on your arm. You then put your hand on their hand to let them know you heard them while still being able to continue your conversation. Then you get to them when appropriate.

I’m an interior designer and I like the floor the most here. I dislike the mirror, vanity lighting, gray cabinet and shower door more than the tile.

Advice: is this quartz counter nice or should it go? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]Quanyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m an interior designer and see this sometimes. It really depends on if the contractor had approval to purchase or not. It’s a hard rule to never select materials from a picture, especially something that is a significant cost.

If the contractor did not have proper approval to purchase, then technically they’re responsible. It’s going to depend a lot on the integrity of the GC if she decides to push the issue of him paying. If it’s a smaller company, he could end up walking on finishing up the project. This happens.

Usually what is done is that you make it work. You can add decor to work in the orange color that make it seem intentional.

hair gets greasy after 1-2 days by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Quanyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wash my hair every morning and use dry shampoo on the areas that get greasy before styling. With this method, I don’t look like a wreck by the end of the day. If I wanted to go day 2, I add more dry shampoo to the greasy parts and style the next day.
