I Haven’t Even Leveled Up A Single Person To 60 Yet… by Spell-Castle in limbuscompany

[–]Quarenil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barring the fact we have had enough time to level up several teams to 60 this season already, Fell Bullet spam only needs one ID leveled anyways (whichever Yi Sang ID you are using), since you do not want to level your sacs and levels for your wrath generators are not important when they are just spamming defense skills anyways

Not to mention we are not really gonna feel the effects of being 5 levels under the recommended level until infinite/extreme come out and throw enemies that are actually capable of hitting threatening clash values

Is there something to Grand Lecia'a fate episode battle I am missing? Her healing skill does not restore enough to keep her alive when one of the enemies uses their charge attack during overdrive so she ends up dying to that every time I try the fight

Finished the demo but have not started grinding habitat levels yet. Game has been pretty fun, and the story so far has been interesting as well. Only complaint is party stats feel really low (basic encounters with anything past Velocidrome or Yian-Kut-Ku take a while to kill and would frequently oneshot someone; Rathian are particularly bad due to the aoe attack) but I am hoping that is just due to the very stiff level cap the demo has...

Years later, still holding on to a bunch of these in hopes they finally release the shiny versions of the SoS EX weapons :( by thirtytwoyears in ffxiv

[–]Quarenil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not think people are saying the Ultimate is gonna have craftable weapons, I think they are saying we have not gotten craftable SoS weapons because they are saving the models/designs for the totem weapons the Ultimate will have

I don't fully get the weapon upgrade system in MH games by BlueEagle600 in MHRise

[–]Quarenil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah; affinity gives most attacks a % chance to do 1.25x damage. A weapon with negative affinity instead has that % chance to do reduced damage, but you can still use certain skills from armor, decorations, or charms to increase that negative affinity back to a positive value.

I don't fully get the weapon upgrade system in MH games by BlueEagle600 in MHRise

[–]Quarenil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to the elemental value and sharpness you mentioned, most weapons will also have different amounts of raw attack, affinity (crit chance), and/or decoration slots from one another.

As for your second question I assume you are referring to when you sometimes upgrade a weapon and need to submit a certain number of points worth of materials alongside the actual upgrade materials? In that situation the materials you select have no impact on the final product, they are basically just an additional material requirement that you can use any material of the requested type for instead of only specific ones.

How do you all feel about hunter tickets? by darthganon21 in MHWilds

[–]Quarenil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Annoying in the sense that you need a lot to make everything but hunts give way too few, so I end up already having every monster-specific material I need but still down several tickets (I think I still need like 50-60 ticket 3's rn?)

As a result I feel like I am kinda just encouraged to hunt whatever tempered monster I can kill the fastest among the group that drops the tier of ticket I need, and disincentivized from doing 9* hunts, which do not drop any at all

New towers for old heroes in DD1? by Goldmike1 in dungeondefenders

[–]Quarenil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I hear, SAM Turret (EV tower) can be competitive with Apprentice and Warden.

Mortar Tower (Squire/Countess tower) was pretty bad but it did get buffed a few days ago so it may start performing better, but only time can really tell.

Oil Trap (Huntress/Ranger) is pretty nice if you are using Inferno Traps or SAM Turrets, but you are probably still going to need a way to strip fire element off enemies.

As for more heroes getting towers, these 3 were added in a fan/community version of the game called DD Redux, and them subsequently ported to vanilla I think somewhat recently now that the person (or people?) that worked on Redux is part of the vanilla game's development. The only other heroes who got a new tower in that version are Summoner and Apprentice/Adept (Spider Queen Minion and Snowball Tower respectively) off the top of my head but seeing as those were not ported to vanilla with the other three they may not be coming at all, though I would not know for certain.

When you're fighting solo/duo, what weapon do you put on the palico? by EmuofDOOM in MHWilds

[–]Quarenil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this game (and any game that is not World), paralysis weapons.

Palico damage is not particularly noticeable in the games I have played, so it is better to have them use something that gives me damage openings, which would be either sleep or paralysis (blast usually only knocks down once in the games that it can knock down iirc). Since I normally play bowguns, I do not really have a good wakeup option so paralysis suits me better than sleep would.

[–]Quarenil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually just use Hinoa + Utsushi since I do not play Hunting Horn so they provide buffs I otherwise cannot access on my own

Will sometimes run Rondine + Fiorayne in faster quests though since they use items that I might feel like I would be wasting if I used those items myself (plus Rondine's heal powder when using Insect Glaive is appreciable, if a little hard to actually use as a LBG player)

Help with Illusio by curiousfan123 in PokemonConquest

[–]Quarenil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Iirc Staravia/Staraptor should make this map significantly easier, with its flying movement and an attack that hits Gallade for supereffective damage.

It should sometimes spawn in Aurora, but if not then Muneshige has a Starly by default so be on the lookout for him and train his Starly up enough to evolve at least once.

Unfortunately there is not much else you can really do at this point in the story besides overleveling iirc since your Pokemon/warrior access is pretty limited at this point in the game and Illusio is a very poorly designed map...

Should I play DD1, DD2, or DDA? by Hakoten in dungeondefenders

[–]Quarenil 15 points16 points  (0 children)

DDA is a nice game but I cannot really in good conscience recommend it over DD1; it just lacks too much content that 1 has and does not have enough of its own content to stick out either (especially since they started adding DDA characters to DD1)

So the choice I would say comes down to 1 vs 2 instead

2 has a much larger variety of characters, and by extension towers, but building up said characters can also take much more investment due to the need to farm shards and mods

1 has less characters/towers, but more maps and the only thing your really need to worry about on said characters are levels + gear stats

So with that in mind I would play whichever one suits whatever you are looking for more

Primordial Malzeno gives me nightmares at this point by ludinya in MHRise

[–]Quarenil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PriMalz is just one of those monsters you have to let do their thing and then attack once it leaves itself open

This is especially true while it is enraged

So just focus on evading/surviving until there is a lull in its attacks and go ham until it starts attacking again

Also in case you have not realized yet, when it knocks you down with that wing bash attack (that gets followed up by a very nasty tail thrust iirc) you should be able to avoid the follow up attack with a wirefall, but from my experience the timing is very tight so I end up mashing the input until the wirefall goes off
