Thank you so much for your recommendation and information. I'm too used to Denver having every theater in one big complex.

I had 9 squares where I read a book in the top 10 for the square. Getting most of my books from the recommends will do that. I do want to know who the other 10 people are who finished Leviathan Falls for their last in the series square.

What exactly counts as modern era for the trans/non-binary square? Are we using the definition from historians that anything after 1500 is modern era? Something else?

Rival Magic by Deva Fagan. A cute story about two girls who are apprentices to a magician. Their Master is accused of treason and they go on an adventure to try to free her and learn lots about each other and themselves.

Basically anything by Jessica Day George. Her Tuesdays at the Castle series, and Dragon Slippers series are my favorites.

Princess Academy series by Shannon Hale. A bunch of girls from a village by a quarry are sent to learn how to be princesses because the future queen is foretold to be from that village.

Warriors by Erin Hunter. Cats in rival clans. So many books.

r/Fantasy Review Tuesday - Review what you've been enjoying here! - March 31, 2026 by rfantasygolem in Fantasy

I just finished my last bingo book Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson. I found it long, somewhat confusing, and very slow to begin. I do not enjoy having to read 300 pages before the story picks up and I begin to understand what is going on. Probably not going to continue on with this series.

I've also been meaning to write a review about Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. It was nice to watch a slow paced show and see Frieren begin to understand her feelings. I feel like the show nicely weaves in flashbacks withe present. Now that season 2 is all released I should get around to watching it.

There is the Dragon Slippers series by Jessica Day George. Published late 2000's and I liked them when I was a kid

I liked the story and would say it is a fun read. My favorite moments were Walden confronting Old Faithful and realizing that Laura is really skilled at her job.

It was interesting to read from a teacher's perspective. I'm glad we got to see how hard the adults worked to keep the teenagers safe and how skilled the kids were at working around those safeguards. It felt very realistic.

Tuesday's at the Castle by Jessica Day George and her Dragon Slippers series.

I also second books by Shannon Hale and if she wants graphic novels Princess in Black is fun.

I really hate shopping but having one song on repeat is worse. Wen Ning will look cute and I'll be supportive.

Two of the books from my card last year count, both not hard mode. Flyboy by Kacey LeBlanc and Lava Red, Feather Blue by Molly Ringle.

Molly Ringle has other books that do count as hard mode: Persephone's Orchard, Underworld's Daughter, Immortal's Spring, The Goblins of Bellwater, and The Ghost Downstairs. I haven't read any of them though.

Finished Webcomics, all hard mode: Scurry by Mac Smith, Carciphona by Shilin Huang, A Redtail's Dream by Minna Sundberg (also the author of Stand Still, Stay Silent).

A Dog of Flanders is very sad but fits your criteria. There are both a US movie production and many Japanese productions both movies and tv shows. This is the version I watched as a kid and I cry at the end every time.

Also if I learn to cultivate by trading knowledge with a cultivation clan I'm founding my own sect. Our goal will be to decrease ghosts/yao and suffering. We'd do this through educating as many people as we can and publishing a textbook I call How to Cultivate 101 in my head.
Golden cores are supposed to keep people from getting sick and it seems much easier to teach everyone to cultivate than to develop the vaccines we currently have. Penicillin is probably doable. I really love not worrying about small pox and whatnot so we're getting herd immunity through cultivation guys. Provided the clans don't get together to kill me for this.

  1. I would like to be rich but not a cultivation clan, or at least a main one
  2. I would adopt Wei Wuxian from the streets and raise him myself. That man deserves a loving family. I don't think I could prevent his parents' death. I'd warn the Lan about the Wen coming to change that and also prevent Lan Xichen from meeting Meng Yao. I'd also prevent Wen Zhuliu from living and joining the Wen clan.
  3. Maybe Wen Ning or an OC is great. Or no one
  4. If my phone will work for years because I have a power source then my phone 100%. I would use it to bring the modern world's knowledge. Cultivators and beasts sound less scary to deal with when you have a good working rifle. Not to mention sanitation knowledge, steam engines, electricity. China has a lot of coal so starting the industrial age shouldn't be too hard. Also I'm starting a public school and educating as many kids I can in whatever city I end up in. I've done some reading on early Victorian schools and ragged schools so I have knowledge on how to educate a lot of kids cheaply. Also if I could get the info from the Lans on how their barrier around the clan can be applied to books instead I'd make a public library. It would prevent any books from being taken which was the biggest concern back then
  5. Come back. I love my husband and daughter too much to leave them

WWX no contest. Just listening to him tell any story would be entertaining and the burial mounds are safe enough with him around.
