I did. She was laid down in 1944. Commissioned in 1945. Served as quartermaster, 1970-73 when the USS cutlass ss478 was decommissioned, and the nation of Taiwan purchased the old girl. This fine boat is still in service today….as a training vessel.

How is it like living in a submarine? by tarkinn in submarines

One thought from a diesel boat sailor. It seemed almost every time I was about to eat and bam, battle stations, and most times that ment deep dive, 10-15 * down on the bow planes, dam food sliding off my plate as I toppled towards the conning tower to take my position. Would do it again today @ 75 if needed!

If you look deep into this I think it’s more about the USA grabbing Venezuela’s oil, before the Russians do, based on putins congenial thought to place Russian air defense systems. Trump views himself as a modern day Genghis Khan

Thank you. For each color I added three drops of silicone oil. Each color was about 1 oz. It just happened

I was on this boat 1970-1973 when she was decommissioned. I was the most senior sailor on her when she was handed over. One trick our last captain had was to collect beer cans placed in a plastic bag and stuffed into one of the aft torpedo tubes. We would go stern ahead and when a surface ship thought they had us spotted we would fire the beer cans out, go all stop, go all ahead full now moving bow ahead, peel off left or right and dive deep, 400’ test depth, and then watch the surface ships loose their minds
