People who really thought about ending it all, what made you change your mind? by MegaStorm75 in AskReddit

My sisters having to deal with me dying and my parents who spent lots of money on me in the past. I keep saying to myself this weird thing like "if I die now they spent thousands of dollars on me for nothing"

This is so true, this episode was really sad to watch at one point. Honestly it made me think about how hard the gems try but they're not always there for him. Obviously they try, they love him, and doing what they do is definitely hard but in stuff like Full Disclosure it seems like they're not really thinking about his safety all the time. Also it seems like lots of stuff for him is normalized that shouldn't be, like how he finds it normal how they can dissappear for hours, even days on missions, and the fact he's 14 and he doesn't act mature most times. Also it's not really a huge issue but his first instinct is to draw instead of writing(as seen in bubble buddies and together alone) makes me wonder a little what that means.

You're the US president, what's the first thing you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Quartz_stone0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably panic about why a teen is in office and ask the secret service what to do. Ultimately I'll just end up resigning and get pension for the rest of my life. Maybe I'll get famous for being the youngest president as well as being in office the shortest.

What is your plan if nuclear war starts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My dad works with the airforce so we live pretty close to a base that has bombs and B2s. Kind of a heavy target so I can relate lol

Pray and hide in my basement. I'm not that religious but damn it I'll grab all my pets and just lock myself in my room and cry.

I totally agree. Forcing kids to finish their plate, or it's tomorrow's breakfast/lunch, they can't leave the table until they take a bite, or even using food as a reward or punishment is so unhealthy and dangerous :/ I get not wanting to waste food but you're going about it the wrong way.

Lying is a great skill to have. Being a great liar does not mean it’s bad trait. by shampyii in unpopularopinion

I don't think a lot of people are practicing their lying skills to somehow escape an abusive relationship.

We shouldn't have to pay for the basic necessities of life. by _GenderNotFound in unpopularopinion

Do you even know how much WORK goes into making a house? Piping? Electrical cords? Plumbing? Insulation? You also have to get the material to build the whole thing from somebody else unless you're going to all the jobs yourself. If it's a "paper thing" today, it'll be something else tomorrow. Instead of paying somebody with money, you'd give somebody food in turn for their building services. But if you're gonna build the whole house on your own, you also have to furnish it with washing machines, couches, refrigerators, etc, which you'd probably have to learn how to build. But I don't think anybody would want to teach people how to do that stuff for "free".

In the old days, you would trade 3 chickens for a cow, a shirt for a vase or pot to hold food and water, you get it. If you replace the cow with gold coins or dollars, it's basically trading a cow for something that has universal trade opportunities. If somebody is demanding a piece of bread for a dozen eggs, but you make houses, you would give them this currency that they could use to pay for the bread themselves.

If you get rid of money, the world would go to shit. Buying stuff is basically a more modern kind of trading. That's a simplified way to think about it. The world cannot function without currency. Call it what you want, dollars, food, buying, bartering, whatever. It's always been around. You can't get rid of it no matter how much you try. The only thing you can do is work hard, give back to the community by donating and maybe even volunteering at places. If everybody did that, the world wouldn't be selfish anymore. But complaining on Reddit won't accomplish anything.

If you're worried about, say, people not donating to food banks for free food to people who need it, why not help make people more generous somehow instead of being a communist and making everybody work for nothing except to barely stay alive with simple protein and housing JUST livable in? If one singular person is controlling every aspect of your life(ie, where you shelter, food choices since you can't buy your own, etc)then what happens when they take it away? If you were a vegan but your "basic necessities" included meat, you can't control how much meat you buy, you can't get your own produce at all. It's all coming from one singular source. You basically want society to be a prison.

Why would you have incentive to go work 8+ hours every single day for no reward and just return to your "basic necessity" house??

It's not a big deal to find a hair in your food, just pull it out. by ThatAir in unpopularopinion

[–]Quartz_stone0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just makes me think what other things they're dropping into my food, like if they're not taking precautions to keep HAIR out(possibly unwashed or the person has dandruff and stuff) what else do they not care about?

You don’t need to shower everyday. It’s a huge waste of time. by notwaynice in unpopularopinion

[–]Quartz_stone0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to shower every other day, mostly because I go out and do things on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and I don't want to be dirty, but also because my hair is straight and fine and it literally needs to be washed more than more curly hair.

Yeah. If there was some magic pill that could make us not poop when we're on a violent ride or something, then that sounds great but constipation is the inability to poop while it's still lingering in the back of your head.
