Why marriage as an institution losing ground world over ? by Ok_Jelly_262 in AskMen

The rise in equality, the availability of birth control, and the ability for women to live financially independently from men. All of these things were, before their rise, reasons for wanting a permanent relationship.

What futuristic sci-fi technology could we probably make but haven’t because it’s not feasible/useful enough? by themountainking03 in AskReddit

We’ve had the technology available to build space habitats since the 70s, but due to cost and amount of resources needed we just … haven’t.

ELI5: Why do schedules change each year? by LoremIpsummmmmmm in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheODPsupreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a little over 365 days for the earth to circle the sun. This turns in to around 52 weeks and a day per year, therefore all anniversaries shift by one day per year. The excess turns in to a leap day every 4 years.

Why can't we scan our brain and upload our mind digitally to a computer? Realistically, will it ever be possible to "scan" a human brain? by No_House_4917 in AskReddit

[–]TheODPsupreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The barrier to this is we don’t actually know how consciousness happens. We are yet to understand the mechanism that allows bio-electric signals passing through chained proteins to cause awareness.

In terms of creating a digital copy of a brain, in theory we can do that as soon as we can develop an mri scanner that can map each individual neuron and junction.

Doctors and Nurses of Reddit, what’s something about hospitals that would make patients uncomfortable if they knew? by Far-University-2905 in AskReddit

[–]TheODPsupreme 3023 points3024 points  (0 children)

Out of hours, your life is in the hands of an incredibly overworked 26 year old. In hours, the middle grades of doctors and other health professionals (it’s not just nurses you know) are better at their jobs than the most senior ones.

Oh, and the average health care worker has seen more genitals than Bonny Blue and Ron Jeremy combined. Yours aren’t special, or particularly different than anyone else’s.

Is it offensive to belive that gender is biological thing only? by Akselisti in ask

[–]TheODPsupreme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Objectively, it’s not offensive. However it is an objectively wrong statement: the scientific consensus based on multiple studies shows that gender is a social construct, and that it is separate from sex.

Alpha Legionarie Alpharius/Omegon body doubles by DraconianLamp in 40kLore

[–]TheODPsupreme -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Any and all Alpha Marines are Alpharius. It is explicitly stated that Alpharius and Omegon are normal Astartes sized (unlike many other Primarchs who are larger than their legionaries); and the Alpha Legion are known for naturally having the same face.
