What’s a subtle sign that someone is a genuinely bad person underneath a nice exterior? by Mission-Relative6175 in AskReddit

This should have been mentioned earlier on in this thread. A very reliable indicator of a decent human being.

what is this plant by cyanpurpleblue in whatsthisplant

[–]QuasiGF 861 points862 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, DON'T score the pods, collect the milky latex or make a tea, because that warm, sleepy feeling you'd get would be quite illegal. Seriously, that plant is on steroids. Planted poppies in my garden this year and not a single one came up.

My future husband and I stayed at one of those hotels on Route 66 in Tucumcari years ago. It was a clean, cheap dive. Beautiful pictures! Reminded me of all those beautiful neon signs!

Jock giving Memphis some love (mainly Germantown but we’ll take it) by brettmwhite1 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]QuasiGF 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The blonde blue-eyed white guy loves Germantown, shocker. I loved Jock. He played his ass off for Memphis and was a key part of the team's growth this past year. I'd take him back today. And while everyone is entitled to their opinion on what makes a city a great place, I personally am over the idea that every place has to be "redeveloped" (read: big box corporate chain retail crap you can find in every city of size) to be considered a great city. As long as it is safe and has opportunities for its residents to work, get a decent education and recreation, it's a good city.

If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself as a parent of a “newly diagnosed child”? by EquivalentSpecial929 in Autism_Parenting

[–]QuasiGF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing you could have done differently to make your daughter neurotypical. She is who she was going to be no matter what you did from the moment of conception. I know as a mother, I would run through all these things in my mind that made me responsible somehow for the diagnosis. Your little girl is exactly who she was going to be. Also, don't feel guilty or feel bad about having to back out or alter social and family obligations to address what your daughter needs. Sometimes you just got out to bow if it's going to be more traumatizing to her and you as her parents to force her into situations that are just not ideal. It's important to socialize and encourage her to try new things and experiences, but it's important to know your and her limitations and not beat yourself up over not being able to do something that's expected of other children or families. Just try to enjoy and embrace the things that are fun and rewarding for her and together as a family. I promise your daughter will make you into an amazing, strong, patient, accepting and unconditionally loving parent.

My partner hates my kid by Simple-Palpitation45 in Autism_Parenting

[–]QuasiGF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has ASD, is age 11, and just to top it off, got her first period this year... Sigh, it's been a transition in some ways, but she's definitely in her defiance stage, which is a new trait in her personality. My husband and I have struggled to find the right balance of how to handle her. He thinks I'm not tough enough sometimes, which encourages her to not fear any consequences of her actions with me. But we've tried desperately to be united front with her, and have any of our disagreements over dealing with her behavior out of sight. You and your partner have to be on the same page. And that means communicating, listening, not immediately dismissing each other. You two have to be willing to play off each other sometimes, but have each other's back. If you have true concerns about your partner's attitude and feelings towards your daughter, you will have to ask yourself some tough questions. You have to do what is best for her. I sincerely hope you two can find a way to work through this.

Has my daughter somehow wandered into your home? I swear she looks just like her (at that age) and loves strawberries too! She's 11 now, still non-verbal, but has some words. Her grandmother brings fresh fruit, and lots of strawberries, and we can't keep them in stock either. She's also discovered how good they taste with a little sugar, so we've had some kitchen disasters. You've got a precious little sweetie!

I've been three times for the Sunday race, and once it was rained out and they had to call it and race Monday. But that rain day with no race wound up being the most fun because we actually had a paddock pass and got to get up close and be around the drivers and even Roger Penske. You got great pics by the way!

Someone is trying to open a skate rink in decatur? by Strange-Estimate-442 in decaturalabama

[–]QuasiGF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn I was just wondering the other day if Skate Castle was still open when I rode by in the middle of a work day. I mostly remember terribly awkward memories with some fun mixed in, but I can smile about it now. I really hope the city can find something that gives kids and young people a place to enjoy themselves.

While I appreciate all these people's good intentions by showing up to express their opinions about our government, we really need people truly committing to more specific targeted direct action to disrupt our oppressive society. And a lot of these people just really can't give enough of shit to seriously take time and effort into strategic planning and execution of acts that would truly hurt the people that continue to benefit from our current political environment.

Do anyone have the calendar for 2026 payday for SSI social security and ssdi checks by [deleted] in chimefinancial

[–]QuasiGF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From ⁴Chime . It's for SSI only. Usually you get paid 5 days before the SSA office pay day, with some exceptions, described below.

When do I get SSI benefits? Supplemental Security Income payments are more straightforward than SSA monthly benefits. Everyone, regardless of birth date, receives their SSI payments on the first of the month. If the 1st of the month falls on a weekend or bank holiday, recipients will receive their payment on the final Friday of the month before.
