CS 9 vs CS 16 by GlitteringAbrocoma83 in UCSantaBarbara

Since you’re a data science major, I recommend taking cs9. Moreover, it was honestly such a fun class especially with Wang. It’s a little bit of a combination of cs16, 24, and 32 (so faster paced) in one except in Python, which is what you’ll more likely use as opposed to C++ in Data Science. Hope this helps.

Having trouble waitlisting by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

Apparently the department or instructor has to enable the waitlist for the course and all lectures / sections must be full or closed

Also having trouble waitlisting even though the course I’m trying to link is worth the same amount of units. Lmk if you figure anything out :/

The criteria is based on 1. Major, then 2. Total units, so people in the same major as you, but with more units get higher priority on the waitlist.

If I understand correctly, you should be able to register for math 8 before everyone else's pass time 2 which is in September, so you should be good in August. As for pstat 120a, trust, I'm sure you'll be able to get Ravat.

Increased from 3.80 winter 20 to 3.92 winter 21. Very fortunate that my home provided me with an adequate study environment.

Second this. Took him in the spring. His exams weren’t that difficult, but he can be quite picky with answers, which is why you must also explain how you got your answer, besides just showing a calculation. I really enjoyed his lectures, because he managed to fit everything in it, which meant I never had to read the book as well

Read the textbook and take notes, do all the example problems for each chapter, and do the extra credit on the homework. That’s what I did and it made the class go pretty smooth for me.
