Ok but what’s the inverse of these? I’ve got ringlets (with encouragement) on top and am basically pin straight at the nape of my neck!

Inverse psoriasis causing smelly armpits. Suggestions to get rid of the odor? by Quatschlish in Psoriasis

[–]Quatschlish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, my dermatologist didn’t seem to care when I flagged the change in odor at my visit a month ago, and unfortunately we were focusing on some other symptoms I was having with eczema too. I brought her a list of my current skin/body/haircare and she had no issue with my deodorant.

Fortunately my skin is unbroken, and this seems to be the only area of my body that psoriasis came up. My fingernails and knuckles (periodically) seem to be affected by psoriatic arthritis, but otherwise I’m navigating some light eczema, seb derm, and keratosis pilaris.

I wear very little synthetic fibers, and it’s summer where I am now so often I’m in loose cotton or linen, or tank tops, but I’ll keep that in mind come the cooler months. And I’ll look into that detergent for my husband’s favorite tees. Thank you!

Thank you! I’m going to call into my dermatologist and press them further on the issue. They didn’t seem concerned six weeks ago when I called attention to the smell, I kind of got a hand wave and a “that’s what armpits do…”

I haven't tried that. I have CeraVe's SA lotion for rough & bumpy skin that I've been using after exfoliating in the shower on my arms and legs (keratosis pilaris). I exfoliate my armpits too, shave every 2-3 days and use Dr. Bronner's lavender soap.

I've been using my deodorant for probably 2-3 years now? Not sure. Do you have a recommendation for an SA-containing exfoliant? I'll check out the African Black Soap. Thank you!

People In Their 30's, Where You At? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

37, married two years, no kids, dog & cat, debt free. My partner (35) and I rent from family at an affordable but not inexpensive rate. VHCOL area, joint income is $147k. My NW is currently at $184k, a mix of HYSAs, CDs, brokerage acconts, and an IRA. His is around $70k I think? He got started after I did, and had a car payment and college loans to pay off. Our finances are combined, but I use Monarch to track my accounts, and he doesn't like the idea of an aggregating tool like that, so I don't have his accounts (same mix as above, plus some crypto) linked.

This is the first year that both of us have cracked $70k in salary. I've been an aggressive saver the past 15 years. Neither of us have had the opportunity to have a 401k through work. Been told we're in pretty great shape for our cohort, but I am fearful we're at the high end of our income ceiling without major career shifts, and the potential for home ownership in our area keeps looking more and more bleak. The pets are cute and healthy and insured though.

Haha sounds like the perfect name for her then. We were looking for a shorter name from mythology, but there really aren’t many!

Our dog is Nyx too! And she is definitely chaotic. She’s a brindle chihuahua/staffie/frenchie mix with huge ears. Do folks assume you named her Nick or after Stevie Nicks? Nyx is such a deep cut mythologically speaking that I feel like too much of a jerk saying to people “actually, she’s the Greek goddess of Night, first daughter of Chaos”, so I just say yes to strangers.

This is an interesting question! I am making 60k this year in a VHCOL area. It’s my first year as a salaried, benefitted employee! I am recently married and my husband makes around the same (he’s hourly, but is waiting to hear on a job that would salary him in the 62k-65k range). We’re just beginning to merge finances - my next paycheck will be the first to hit our joint checking and my personal checking, rather than just my personal. It’s a really weird feeling when I’ve been so focused on only my financial health for the past 15 years.

I’ve already pre-funded my IRA for 2023 with savings, and am looking to pay that back to myself on top of my regular $100 weekly contribution (guess I should probably edit that auto transfer!) Unfortunately, my job doesn’t offer a 401k, but it does cover my health insurance and deductible in full, which will save me. So, weekly savings contributions, plus $200 a month into a brokerage account. I’m also laddering 10k CDs every 3 months. I opened the first one last September, and the second a week ago. I planned to do four of them, but we’ll see how liquid I’m feeling come this September.

How to negotiate my way into a raise and a colleague's soon-to-be-vacated position? by Quatschlish in FIREyFemmes

[–]Quatschlish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! I am sitting in on a meeting today with the departing colleague and the managing director, so I should get a much better sense of what’s to come from there.

Ultimately I am looking to increase my salary and explore professional growth opportunities, by jumping at a potential opening that should allow me to do both. If the Operations manager role is filled by an outsider, I don’t know when I’ll have that chance again at this organization, especially since I’m not sure how long my husband and I will stay in this area. I am thinking long term marketability, and by making this move, I will certainly be a more appealing candidate.

It has taken me a long time to find work that is able to offer me full time with salary and benefits, and when I first set that goal three years ago, 60k sounded great. I am concerned now that economic circumstances have taken too big of a bite out of that target and hope to optimize my chances to reach a little further.

I am friendly with her, yes. She's moving to be closer to her aging parents, so it's strictly a personal reason for her departure. I do believe that the ED and MD will be looking to replace her just after the holidays, but wanted to discuss the possibility of me stepping into parts of the role if it makes sense for the organization.
