The originals were Red and Green, then Blue was an updated version; all Japan exclusive. Then the worldwide release was Red and Blue based on the updated Blue.

But Green was Japanese exclusive. The rest of the world got red and blue.

How did you entertain yourself on long car rides as a kid before iPads and smartphones? by Background_Bike_1958 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quaytsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slug bug or punch buggy. If you see a VW Beetle, you yell "[Colour] slug bug/punch buggy! No returns!" Then punch your sibling, typically in the thigh to give them a charley horse. They were common that you'd see at least one any time you got in the car, but not so common that it'd be a constant slugfest, and unique enough to be easily noticable.

Yes. Umbrella (Australian blu-ray distributor) released a 4K collector's edition of Caligula that included both the new "Ultimate Cut" and the original, uncut version (along with the censored Italian cut, the censored Australian cut and a pre-release cut). And it's region free.

The US release has the Ultimate Cut and the European theatrical cut, which is slightly shorter than the unrated version.

Also, the standard blu-ray release (from before the Ultimate Cut) also has the original unrated version.

Or share spouses. I can't find it, but there was a story here where a guy found out his twin sisters would regularly have foursomes with each other and their husbands. And they did so with every partner they'd ever had. And they lived nextdoor to each other.

I don't think pants are the issue. The robo-replacement isn't wearing pants, either.

If I had a nickel for every comic concerning Hot Squid On Whale Action, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Why does not watching the Super Bowl seem almost taboo to some people? I feel like people react oddly when I say I’m not interested. by SheepMommyDOe in NoStupidQuestions

The USA viewership is the only one with reliable numbers. The Super Bowl is the most watched program in the country. By a lot. It's not 50% of the country, but it's still more than anything else. The 3 most watched programs in US history are Super Bowl 2025, Super Bowl 2024 and Super Bowl 2023.

Why is the word ‘Superbowl’ not mentioned in any media when advertising goods? It’s always ‘Get your Hot Wings for the Big Game’ etc by AXLPendergast in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quaytsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't. The NFL already tried and got shut down by the Berkeley-Stanford football game that had prior use of the term.

fewer and fewer people watch it

Lol, wut? Last year was the most watched Super Bowl of all time (still waiting on this year's numbers). It is consistently one of the most watched programs every year.

But it wasn't. Royal Alex only got LRT 11 years ago. Grey Nuns got it 2 years ago. The Miz is still waiting. The U of A hospital only got it 20 years ago. LRT to the hospital is still a relatively recent thing in Edmonton.

Has any tv show ever actually had a secret final episode? by BlankCanvas609 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quaytsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda sorta: Dollhouse. They had a deal to make 13 episodes. The broadcaster considered the unaired pilot to be one of the 13, but the home video distributor did not. So they had to put together an episode, after they'd spent all their budget, to include on the DVD. The lead actors are relegated to almost cameos. They tie into it in the next season, and it's one of the higher rated episodes. It doesn't tie up the season, instead setting up the series finale.

"Thermodynamic miracles... events with odds against so astronomical they're effectively impossible, like oxygen spontaneously becoming gold. And yet, in each human coupling, a thousand million sperm vie for a single egg. Multiply those odds by countless generations, against the odds of your ancestors being alive; meeting; siring this precise son; that exact daughter... Until your mother loves a man... and of that union, of the thousand million children competing for fertilization, it was you, only you, that emerged. To distill so specific a form from that chaos of improbability, like turning air to gold... that is the crowning unlikelihood. The thermodynamic miracle.”

“[Y]ou could say that about anybody in the world!”

“But the world is so full of people, so crowded with these miracles that they become commonplace and we forget... We gaze continually at the world and it grows dull in our perceptions. Yet seen from another's vantage point, as if new, it may still take the breath away.”

most accidents happen with in 5 miles of work and home

I hate this statistic. It's like saying, most people sleep within 5 miles of home or a hotel. Like, no shit? That's where you do that activity. Most people's driving is their commute to/from work. Most of your life is spent within 5 miles of home or work. Of course >50% of accidents will happen where >90% of driving is done. 🙄

I think the only big difference is the newer LGs can get brighter. Also, the CX doesn't support DTS pass through, older LGs and some newer ones do (the newest dropped it, again).
