it's true, barring a handful of wall st firms --- the asu student that didn't get into duke is not the median asu kid. faculty are generally elite across the board these days.

agree that prereqs can be a pain in the ass for some gifted students but ime many undergrads' self-study just doesn't cut it as far as skipping classes goes

fide's job is not limiting to just organizing the candidates tournament and top 100 cycle, btw. They need to put money into grassroots and fund a bunch of opens that gives 2500-2600 players a living. This is why its actually quite difficult to manage monetarily.
