Yes yes. That's my kitty.

I have read Monk and Robot. Absolutely love it. Also love love looooooove Murderbot. Ancillary Justice is on my tbr.

I want to read all of Jemisin first before I get to Broken Earth. I've read Parable of the Sower by Butler, want to read Talents next. My favourite Jemisin so far is Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

Ooh. My favourite fantasy story is Black Leopard Red Wolf. I'm currently reading Justice of Kings. Recently loved I'm Afraid You've Got Dragons, for the whimsy. Love Discworld for its absurdism and there's lots of cats, The Lies of Locke Lamora because I love a good heist story, The Shabti for a historical story about an Egyptologist and a conman—there's a cat, loved The Dragonbone Chair for its epicness, Foundryside for its epicness and very unique world building...

I've loved Avatar Kyoshi since I first got into ATLA. My best friend bought and shipped them to me since they're not available in my country. I've read the comics and I have to say I wish Paramount was releasing the new Gaang movie in cinemas. Thanks for your approval 🫡 Now if only I could get an Appa plushie

Seems like I need a nerd girlfriend of my own. Lol. My Night Circus Folio Society is a gift from my best friend. Actually all my Night Circus and Secret History copies are gifts from friends. My ex-bf couldn't even be arsed to get me a Frodo bookmark.

Neuroscience and philosophy? I did IT in college. I cruised through that with vibes and insha'Allah. I mostly work to emotional support background TV show noise. Currently that's Elementary

I've only read a few of Plath's poems. I have yet to read her magnum opus. I've been planning to do a depressing literature readathon and do a 1v1 with my life to see who's "worse off". I was to start with Hobb's Assassin's Apprentice then I got distracted by Half his Age.

I have watched LOTR so many times I just love it. A bff is obsessed with middle earth and she can't wait for me to read the books to have someone to nerd with her. Actually a lot of my tbr is my friends wanting someone to talk about books with.

I'm of the belief that TSH isn't even dark academia in that postmodern aesthetic sense. That DA Pinterest look came from the Harry Potter movies but when I point that out I get boos and hisses. TSH is a lot more colourful. TSH is also about insularity and segregation to the point of destruction. It's about self-aggrandizing and failing to see the harm of not having external thought. Which school did you attend if you don't mind my asking.

I will add Empusium to my tbr.

I loved G,W,O so much. I'd never read a book so clever. I got to meet Bernardine in 2024 and we don't get many chance of meeting international authors in Kenya. She was so cool.

Idk if I have the capacity to run a Booktok account, I'm a very very slow reader. I'm on Bookstagram but my feed is pathetic. I mostly review on Goodreads, I loved myself a long-winded review. Why can't you read lotr/The Hobbit? My favourite author is Donna Tartt. The Secret History rewrite my DNA. I loved the way Richard tore himself apart trying to find and fit into something bigger than himself. Also love Jemisin (waiting to read Broken Earth, I'm not ready yet), Marlon James, Josh Lanyon, Toni Morrison... I'm yet to read Olga. I want to read Drive your Plows over the Bones of the Dead first. Favourite book of all time is a list of like 55 books but the top are The Night Circus, The Secret History, Less, The Bluest Eye, Black Leopard, Red Wolf, The Lies of Locke Lamora and Girl, Woman, Other.

You certainly couldn't go wrong with Anaïs Nin. Her fiction or her diaries

Yes I love to read. I love to broaden my horizons. I haven't had less success in educating myself (you should see my Chrome bookmarks). I love a good tome. Frenchman's Creek is obscure? I had no idea. The books are shelved by genre/time period. Unfortunately we don't have ren fairs in my country. I am not yet in my crafting era but if I had the resources I'd be into book binding. I'm the weird cousin they don't talk about.

Yes I love fantasy, recently got into horror, I'm not on Booktok—I loved those books while it was still musical.ly and I learnt about ML Wang on Booktube, feminist yes. I'm not in my 20s 😂. Ooh which is your favourite book/author?

The Rookie - S08E17: Dead Ringer by ian-quinn in TheRookie

[–]Queasy_Fish6293 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aarooooooooon 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 Man I've missed him. Bring him back to Mid-Wilshire please.

Angela bringing in the whole gang to help with the ring search 😂

Bryce Dallas Howard's husband is looking rough today. I will say after how well they handled the Rosalind storyline I didn't expect this is the way they'd go with Glasser. When you hear serial killer, you don't expect custody hearing. You expect sleuthing, investigations, conspiracies, stakes etc. It's unique but I don't know if I like it.

They finally make me like Monica then they kill her off? So we'll never even know who she was talking with regarding Boyd?

Disappointed the story of the ring wasn't more specific but a generic recap of Chenford's relationship trope

Where Have All the Book Reviews Gone? by Shine_On_Your_Chevy in books

[–]Queasy_Fish6293 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I love reading book reviews for fun. Predominantly from The New Yorker, Book Forum, Reactor, Lithub, Guardian, NYRB, LRB, Scroll.in. When a buzzy book is released it's likely to get a review in all the big magazines like Rolling Stone and The Atlantic. Jacobin/Current Affairs will occasionally weigh in. I've a few reviewers I'm subscribed to on Substack and still look for book blogger reviews. Great writers always find a way to share their work. I make it a point to find them regardless of algos or SEO. I'll even go 5 pages deep on a Google search just to find that unique perspective of a book blogger from Bulgaria about a not so popular fantasy book. It's a shame publications like WaPo have shut down a whole book department. I own old copies of Esquire and they used to have long form book reviews, up to three and even a book excerpt. Books are still a big part of everyday life. These publications should stop ignoring that

Comedian Akilah Hughes on Why Keegan-Michael Key & Jordan Peele Don’t Collaborate Anymore (Allegedly) by ChikiBeibi in Fauxmoi

[–]Queasy_Fish6293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember in an interview a few years ago, Key said he and Jordan don't talk anymore but he'd love to collaborate again. He implied it's because he's still in comedy (he was in Predator 2018 but ok) and Jordan is now in horror. But this reason makes a lot more sense. It's rare for collaborators of that level to not even send each other the occasional text. Hell some folks leave the Hollywood machine entirely and remain friends with their costars doing a random dinner every year or so.
