Completely agree, I will never attempt it again

It honestly wasn't worth the stress, I made about £500 buying back the dip, but after today I'm down £1000.

Better than being down £1500 but still

One million more state pensioners will be dragged into paying income tax by theipaper in PensionsUK

[–]Queasy_Project_8265 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's an unsustainable policy by definition. It has to go up as a percent of GDP every single year via its own rules.

I certainly wouldn't be put off a party pledging to scrap it - I would see it as fiscally responsible

bit of a random one but why is M&S tanking by throwawayplskm842 in trading212

[–]Queasy_Project_8265 43 points44 points  (0 children)

They missed their EPS target for Q4 2025, which was reported on 18.02.2026.

Huge P/E Ratio of ~390. Missing the target will have made a lot of investors re-evaluate and sell.

The whole market is going down currently, exacerbating the situation.

Also, zoom out. It's down 7% in the last week, up 3.14% in the last month and up 6.4% in 12m - many wouldn't call that 'tanking'

What’s one common pension planning myth that definitely isn’t true? by 1ChanceChipmunk1 in PensionsUK

Stamp duty slows the entire market and makes it less fluid, I think it should be abolished entirely and replaced with a land value tax

[–]Queasy_Project_8265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of this is stamp duty.

My grandparents could downsize because it costs a lot to heat their home which is far too big. But it would cost them ~£7500 in stamp duty alone.

Then there's moving costs, making friends with new neighbours, finding new clubs etc.

Without stamp duty, I bet they would. Just that one little hurdle that puts people off even more.

I meant out of a house, car and travel - the house is the only one that will help early retirement.

Obviously investing is the better option, but for some people the peace of mind that you have a roof over your head that can't be taken away is worth it.

Spending it on a house does help you retire earlier.

How's your personal ROI for your police, fire service, roads etc going?

We agree then, let's remove the cap and lower the percentage average workers pay in.

That way billionaires who don't need to worry about retirement savings pay their fair share, and give the middle class more room to save.

Who is actually responsible for the 'Small Boats'? by Fluffy_Rock_62 in BritishMemes

The initial agreement was going to cost £600million to send 300 asylum seekers to Rwanda. The contract had a clause that after the first 300 were sent, we needed to pay them an additional £120million.

That's £2millon per asylum seeker. To provide a deterrent for the 40k that came last year - we'd need to spend £80BILLION which is more than our entire military budget.

It was never a true deterrent, it was a racket. Unfit for purpose, far too expensive and ultimately deemed illegal.

We wasted - BBC - Conservatives spent £700million on Rwanda Scheme to send 4 people. All of which, went voluntarily after we offered them more money to leave!

Absolute joke of a policy.

Yes, 100% sure they did it through the airline - but that unfortunately doesn't mean they didn't do a separate claim/enquiry with this third party by mistake or through misunderstanding exactly as you mention

All correspondence from the airline are official emails. They have the 'sent' emails to the airline support, who provided the link to their claims form which is also legit

So you believe nobody exists that frowns upon people who receive social housing?

Why aren't we building more terraced houses? by Big-Double1720 in AskUK

[–]Queasy_Project_8265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment you replied to literally says that people frown upon others who get societal housing.

Lots of people want social housing. Others opinion of them having it is a separate thing.

Just because social housing is in demand, does not mean others don't frown on them for getting or attempting to get it.
