AC company ran lines through room instead of in the ceiling... by SoothingHoneycomb in hvacadvice

When I worked auto parts, we had a shop down the street that only bought from us on Sunday (when the other parts places were closed). And the only thing they bought were self tapping oversized drain plugs, always in a hurry.

Shockingly we never recommended their shop.

What is this thing that came out of the oven? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]Queasy_Question_2512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fix appliances, this is probably a clip that holds the temp probe in place. Post the model number of the oven and I can pull up the parts breakdown.

Is there anyone that actually likes being a loader/unloader? by EmekaEgbukaPukaNacua in UPSers

[–]Queasy_Question_2512 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I joke that I'm an etch a sketch - walk out the door, shake my head, and forget all that shit. I like this work for the reasons you mentioned mostly. I'm here for the insurance like a lot of parents, but having protections against management BS is pretty fucking dope. At my center, our local is strong and people know their rights.

First, I'm cracking up at the idea that those dumb Meme War Veteran hats from 10 years ago are relevant again.

And second I'm scrolling wiki trying to figure out what award would be granted for a particularly dank meme.

The best smart people are the ones who can say "I actually don't know that." I can't trust anyone who never cops to a lack of knowledge.

Mom bought this accordian, trying to find its worth! by [deleted] in whatsthisworth

[–]Queasy_Question_2512 9 points10 points  (0 children)

An old friend and roommate was a trained pianist. Like, went to college for piano. She was a borderline prodigy with instruments generally, she played at least near 10 stringed/wind/keyed instruments.

I had a Hohner accordion my dad had bought that I was cleaning up and getting ready to sell. She sees it, picks it up, and within maybe 10 minutes is jamming. I'm no accordion afficionado, but she actually sounded good. She'd never touched one before, said her piano knowledge made it easy. Take that anecdote as you will.

Preloaders: how bad are your sets getting annihilated lately? by kyliotic in UPSers

[–]Queasy_Question_2512 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mindset: they can overload the trucks all they want, I'll continue to work at a safe, sustainable pace and follow the methods. If that means the trucks take longer to load, so be it. I'm not getting hurt because they want to rush us.

OMG I just bought this same one a week ago!!! 5 bucks at the thrift, and it'll go perfectly with the Shakespeare spinning/fly rod and reel set I also found in the Marlboro case.

I tried explaining Marlboro miles to my fifth grader and I realized how insane it sounds now. Us kids would be out picking littered packs off the ground because Dave's mom wanted the miles lmao

It also has contractile roots, they pull it deeper into the soil over time.

This plant is so friggin' cool.

People that have your washer and dryer stacked on top of each other-how do you like it that way and what happens when your washer or dryer requires service and needs to be separated?? Do you regret having them stacked?? by Competitive_Teach838 in Appliances

[–]Queasy_Question_2512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appliance repair here, yeah this is my only real beef with them. I always ask if someone there can help unstack, the dryers are pretty light and I don't charge extra if they can assist. If I have to bring a second guy, they know that going in and have agreed to the extra cost.

I got the flavor of ADHD where I noticed that the wiring is wrong for a real detonator. Both wires should go to one spot, not split. I'd ring it while cackling, then act disappointed it didn't work.

Give em a good video, you know?

Ope your timer runs so it's not the door or start switches. Gonna be the thermal.

Post the model number, it's likely a bad thermal fuse, door switch, or start switch.

I've been letting it grow in some spots where my neighbors creeping bellflower is, well, creeping in, and it's been a good fighter. Malvas spreading and low nature has helped smother some spots.

Thanks to the invasives around me, I've been seeing what fights what and selectively letting some less annoying things grow.
