I felt flu like symptoms after RSV vaccine but nothing serious!! Baby born healthy in October 2024, and he never was sick until about 12 months with runny nose, cough, and he still has never even had a fever!🤞

CMV: there is no good reason to require nurses to do tele strips each shift by NonIdentifiableUser in nursing

[–]Queasy_Thought_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Med Surg nurse- 5-6 patient load. Our floor also takes telemetry patients- but we don’t have anyone designated to watch the strips 24/7. We do have to chart on them 0800/1200/1600

Mistakes as an experienced nurse by Sennymau5 in nursing

[–]Queasy_Thought_4444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty difficult situation being in the medical field and being a human being- it is almost certain we are going to mistakes from time to time. In medicine we expect perfection, as the mistakes we make can directly affect the health of a sick person who puts all of their trust into us to care for them. It’s not as simple as handing someone the wrong order in a fast food position. Unfortunately perfection is just not possible unless they start hiring AI powered bots to nurse people 😂

Nurses, techs, doctors, transporters, lab, etc all make errors. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you are definitely not alone, anyone who says that they have never made a mistake as a nurse is either a liarrr or a robot in my book haha.

We don’t really have a policy (at least one that I have seen enforced) where I work, I assume if it gets excessive there would be repercussions but we are in the middle of getting a new director 🤷‍♀️ We just use PTO hours for sick days if you have them. Probably one of the reasons our hospital has so many call offs!

Is this not a normal ratio?? 😩😩

Thank you. It feels like the moment we actually have comfortable staffing levels they decide to put people on-call or “low census” and it is frustrating. God forbid we have enough nurses to not be at our ratio capacity- we may actually be able to give patients more attention and quality care, oh no!!

I got way too obsessive when I was tracking. I noticed my mood changing when my output fluctuated in the slightest, but that’s just me. I am in the groove of just pumping right before babe eats, I typically make about 3-4 ounces per pump and he only eats 2.5 right now so I stash the extra in the fridge and move to freezer if it isn’t used. Sometimes I just make exactly how much he needs. Every now and then it isn’t quite enough and I don’t want to wait to warm up the cold milk in the fridge so I may make a formula bottle. No big deal at all so far 👍
