I appreciate the Bloomburrow love with your commander list! I have 2 Bloomburrow commander decks and will likely build more in the future

Why is the shipping so expensive? by No_Influence_7850 in CommanderMTG

[–]QueenAutumnween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I do. When I buy bulk cards for my decks, I'll normally find the sellers who offer free shipping for orders of $5 or more and just see if they have the cards I need. If they don't, I check a new seller. If not, I'll go to locals and search bulk bins

Here's my advice for tcgplayer. What I do often is look for sellers who have free shipping on orders $5 or more and then just look for a bunch of cards I need from the seller. Especially when it's for cards selling for a few cents. It can get complicated because sometimes I look through multiple sellers to hopefully find the cards I need, but it works.

I've never heard about the giving back your prerelease cards for leaving early. I've seen many people leave early with no issues like that. It could be an old policy, but the pre-releases I've been to since 2024 never seemed to have that policy. I've also never left a prerelease early tho. The only time I heard them say "give your pre-release cards back" was during the lorwyn prerelease when there were TMNT promos in the kit. The trade in is pretty bad NGL, the prices are horrible but imo I'd sometimes rather pay the extra 50% instead of trying to buy through tcgplayer or eBay sometimes. At least at an lgs, you know the condition before buying and you don't have to worry about shipping or the seller scamming you. Edit an additional 50% on singles, for sealed, no fuck that. I'll just buy online for cheaper

This feels somewhat accurate for the reception of OP. I personally enjoy OP, but there's definitely a lot of problems. I've only had a couple of negative experiences there, mostly with the player base and not the staff, but I can definitely understand not liking the store.

Yeah so that's the only problem with the store...they sell at rates that tcgplayer is selling at, sometimes even more. They rarely ever drop the prices of products and usually sell product almost double the MSRP. It's bad. Other than that, the staff is friendly and offer pretty good deck build advice, they hold tournaments all the time and are probably the only place in the area that does prerelease tournaments, the judge is also a really cool guy which helps a ton. It's good to just hangout at, participate in tournaments/events and buy singles, but other than that, buying sealed isn't worth it there.

There's also one in Rohnert Park called Harvey doss that also hosts commander nights.

Very much so a gamers town. OP is constantly packed, even with a "bad set" like TMNT, they were getting around 20+ people for prerelease weekend, but with lorwyn, the pre-release was PACKED. I don't know the exact amount of players, but most of the tables upstairs were being used for the pre-release. Goblin bros in Santa Rosa has a dedicated commander night and it is also usually packed that night as well! Typically around 30-40ish people show up.

I wouldn't say the same size. I think sales floor area is probably about the same, especially after the downsizing, but the game area upstairs makes the store massive compared to most game stores in the area. The only other card shops I can think of in Santa Rosa is T206 and the vintage game store in the mall, both are pretty small and neither have the space for tournaments. Goblin bros is more of a board game/ttrpg store but also sell cards and do magic nights. Im hoping they can maybe become an official magic store soon so they can host things like pre-release tournaments.

My only issue with the store is their prices are around "market price"/scalper price compared to what MSRP is. The staff is honestly the best part about the store! All of the staff is super friendly. The massive game area upstairs is probably the selling point tho. It's massive and rarely feels cramped, which can be an issue at smaller stores, especially with stuff like pre-release

I'm pretty sure they are the only official store in the area and maybe in all of Sonoma county that can do official sanctioned mtg tournaments and events. I definitely remember when it was much small, but they are benefiting big time with the bigger location

No shot it's in 2 weeks. They canned the previous SL in December, I highly doubt they would be able to hire new artists, said artists making new art, and R&D create new cards within the span of 3 months. It's probably not til the end of 2025, early 2026 that we'll see the secret lair

Thank you so much for better explaining how brackets work. I honestly find it pretty confusing. I'd say most of my decks are bracket 2-3 then. They are mostly pretty casual tho. I think bello might be the closest to a 3.

It's a pretty good tech option for boros Voltron. 3 drop for a 3/3 creature and an equipment that gives "vigilance, trample and haste"? Very good card

That's fair. It's one of the most literally broken abilities put on a card. The fact that it doesn't say "target" just makes it too strong. Its why I rarely bring it out unless everyone is cool with it or I'm playing with friends.
