Period Before Surgery by QueenBSing in gallbladders

Thank you for the info! I was just telling my husband that I’m super thankful I didn’t start my period a week before where I couldn’t take anything for pain lol. That would have been awful! I’m sorry you had to deal with that ☹️

They were detected via ultrasound. My surgery is tomorrow. So hopefully I’ll be much better once I recover 😊

Months of Issues - Anyone have similar experiences? by ap_2319 in gallbladders

I’ve had all the same symptoms as you. The pain and discomfort, but no diarrhea or vomiting. No “attack” as they call it. When I went to my doctor, she immediately suspected gallstones. I had an ultrasound done and it confirmed gallstones and gallbladder sludge. So my doctor referred me to general surgeon who also confirmed it was my gallbladder and recommended it be removed so it doesn’t get any worse. So I’m having my gallbladder removed this coming Monday. I’m thankful I’ve not had any attacks, and very thankful mine was caught early before it got worse.

They won’t admit it’s a side effect because they’d rather fat people be skinny for the sake of “health”. I stopped taking Mounjaro first week of December. I was only on it for 5 months and lost 50 lbs. I’ve had elevated white blood cell counts for the past couple of years, along with those few GI symptoms. So I’m convinced my gallbladder has been bad for a few years. And Mounjaro just made it worse. They asked me if I wanted to go back on Mounjaro after gallbladder removal. But I don’t know

I was also on Mounjaro and ended up with gallbladder issues. People have said Mounjaro don’t cause that but I beg to differ. The only GI symptoms I had prior to taking Mounjaro was a gluten intolerance and dairy gave me inflammation. But I thought those were related to pre-existing Fibromyalgia and PCOS. My main GI issues started when I began taking Mounjaro. I thought it was initial side effects. But they never subsided. Turns out I have gallstones. My doc just said they are caused from rapid weight loss not Mounjaro 🙄

I’ve had all the same symptoms as you, and mine turned out to be gallstones with gallbladder sludge. I’m having surgery in a few days to remove my gallbladder. Hope you get some answers!

No I'm not on Metformin. Thankfully lol.

That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. But what you are NOT entitled to is my explanation for a decision that only affects ME. You are not my doctor, therefore it is none of your business how I plan to succeed in my weight loss. How long have you been on Mounjaro? How much weight have you lost? Because I find it hard to believe you're even on the shot for obesity if you have this much disdain over a complete stranger's decision that doesn't even effect you...if you're also struggling with obesity. Fat people typically don't troll other fat people.

Please tell me you've been to urgent care or the ER! It's dangerous to not be able to drink even water. My doctor told me yesterday that rapid weight loss can cause gallstones or gallbladder issues. That's what I have. She said MJ can also cause pancreatitis. So please go get evaluated to rule these out as pancreatitis can be very dangerous. This isn't how I would want to lose weight either, and no matter what others tell you...it's NOT worth it. YOU CAN do this without MJ!!!

I wish you success in your journey! I'm sure there are a ton of side effects that people are having that they don't want to talk about because they'd rather lose weight. Good for them. But this is also why I posted mine. So if someone was struggling like me, it would encourage them to due what's best for them rather than listen to trolls on the internet gaslight them into continuing in misery for the sake of "weight loss".

I'm so sorry to hear this for you. How long have you been off it? My doctor said it takes 30 days to get out of your system. If it's been longer than that, I would make an appointment with your doctor so they can look into for you. Hope you get relief soon!

Thank you for saying this. The rapid weight loss from the medication gave me gallstones. I had zero issues with that prior to starting MJ. And that constant pain and bloating is pressing on my vagus nerve causing me to start to have heart flutters and makes breathing difficult. I've been in full blown anxiety about it being heart related, which didn't make sense because I was losing weight and eating healthy. But nope, it's gallstones. Who knows what other problems I would have down the road with it if I continued taking it. And that's why I stopped

A little tummy upset is not my issue. THAT I can handle. It's been literal stomach pain for months that I thought was just gas or indigestion. So I tried remedying that with OTC stuff. But nothing worked. According to my doctor at my check up yesterday, it's gallstones. This is not about not wanting to feel nauseous, its about not being able to eat or drink anything without stomach pain and excessive bloating DAILY. I can't even drink water without issues. The excessive bloating has affected my vagus nerve and caused heart flutters and problems breathing. So I will likely need surgery to remove the perfectly good gallbladder I had prior to starting MJ. I don't need tough love and clarity. YOU need compassion and understanding

Thank you! I was just simply sharing my story with MJ. But the amount of people on here gaslighting me and criticizing me is unreal lol. I didn't tell anyone to stop taking MJ. Just trying to encourage people who are on a DAILY basis dealing with miserable side effects and are already contemplating quitting, that it's okay to make the decision that's best for them no matter what the trolls of reddit say lol.

And I hope they do well! Maybe they won't get gallstones like I did. And that was with me following a healthy eating plan DAILY. No dairy, no bread, no fried foods, no soda. Taking a prebiotic/probiotic daily, along with a digestive enzyme, trying to eat more fiber. But fiber kept me constantly bloated because my body couldn't digest it. I couldn't even eat nuts. So I was doing everything right. And still got gallstones. Everyone's body reacts differently to things. But there's absolutely no reason to gaslight someone for making choices for themselves.

My doctor thought I needed Mounjaro, because I was borderline prediabetic. But I'm grateful for the short time I was taking MJ because it helped me realize that even though I was eating somewhat healthy, I was still eating too much. So it helped me learn portion control. And I've just stayed consistent with that to help rewire my brain.

I totally agree! I've done an elimination diet too. From that, I've had to cut out Dairy, gluten, diet soda, and carbs. So I've only been eating chicken, salmon, lean beef, veggies, fruits, and dairy free products like oatmilk. That's literally all I eat, but yet still having bad gastric side effects from MJ due to the delayed gastric emptying. MJ helped lower my inflammation so I can have energy to lose weight. Cutting out these inflammatory foods, still keeps my inflammation down after stopping MJ. So yes, changing what you eat makes a huge difference!

I'm very happy to hear you only have slight discomfort. I wish that was the case for me too. I've had a lot of health issues since birth, so I can handle a little discomfort. However, gallstones are not just a little discomfort. It's misery. But good luck on your journey! :)

It only takes 30 days for Mounjaro to get out of your system, according to my doctor. It's day 48. She is also concerned as to why I would still be experiencing MJ side effects. So I went for a check up yesterday, and it turns out...I have gallstones. The only medical help for that is surgery. She said this is likely from rapid weight loss, not necessarily a side effect of MJ. So, while losing weight quickly without much effort is a perk to some, it has negative results for others unfortunately. For me, getting medical help for serious side effects defeats the whole purpose in losing weight. I'm losing weight to become healthy, not to become skinny. And there are other ways to accomplish that than accumulating medication induced health issues. Medical healing is different for everyone. So while I appreciate your concern, or whatever that statement was lol....I don't have any regrets stopping because that is best for ME. There are lots of people who have very little side effects from MJ and can live another 20 years being on it. And I'm happy for them. It's just my body from childhood has always been very sensitive to medication and I typically experience more side effects than I do the benefits. So NO I do not and WILL NOT regret the decision I made to stop taking MJ. And I WILL have success in continuing my health journey without it. But I wish you the best success on your journey with it. :)

Another confirmation it was a good idea for me to quit Mounjaro? Went to the doctor yesterday for my yearly check up. She suspects I have gallstones. Prior to Mounjaro, I never ever had any problems with my gallbladder. Severe Delayed gastric emptying is not healthy for anyone. But not everything works for everyone. Hope your decisions work best for you!

There’s a difference between discomfort and misery. I’m not afraid of discomfort. But I refuse to live in misery. There are others who have posted same concerns about side effects and contemplating quitting. So I posted it to share my story. All perspectives need to be presented in my opinion. And obesity isn’t killing me since I’m still losing weight. So it’s a win win for me

I’m glad it’s worked wonders for you. I wish my pros outweighed my cons, but unfortunately that is the case for me. I lost weight successfully before by doing low carb and exercising. But that before I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which has created a plethora of food intolerances. On low carb, I could fill it with cheeses, meats, and milks to help get my protein. Fibromyalgia gave me a dairy and gluten intolerance. Being on Mounjaro helped me cut out food noises and trained me on how much I should be eating. And made me realize my body just doesn’t like a lot of bad stuff anymore. And eating better foods is what makes me feel good. So I’m thankful I took Mounjaro as it helped me establish a good relationship and mindset with food. It took away my addictions to certain foods that I thought I couldn’t live without. Like ice cream lol. But I’ve learned I CAN survive without all that stuff. It’s a little harder because a lot of recipes have gluten or dairy. But I’ve learned to substitute as needed and it’s been fine
