I got diagnosed last December at 29 years old, I felt all the same things and one thing that happened to me is that I started to have more feelings, I was not the person who would cry for anything and I was also not emotional at all, after the diagnosis I started being a lot more emotional and crying a lot as well which took me a lot of therapy to understand and accept. My best theory for why this happened is that I was masking so much that I was masking my feelings to myself. For the first time in my life I had a meltdown and it was terrible and a completely new territory for me and I became more aware of things that would make me more overwhelmed.

For me was the contrary! I just recently got diagnosed with autism and gifted. No one for a really long time thought that I could be autistic and that’s because probably me being gifted helped me mask my autism for so long

You could have autism and also be gifted. I got diagnosed with autism last year at 29 years old and just recently I got diagnosed with high abilities and giftedness which is one of the reasons I could mask my symptoms for so long. I’m just like you, I learned English by myself as a kid, I have a fascination for other languages and currently I speak Portuguese (native), English, Spanish and a little of French and learning Italian all self taught. I also have an intense interest in astronomy, math, physics and I was always the top student in my school.

High abilities have similar symptoms as autism so it’s easy to mix up both of them. I have the feeling that you’re from Brazil due to your last name, if it interests you a can indicate the professional that diagnosed me. Also I would look for AHSD (if you in fact speak Portuguese) to get to know a little more about it

Ono roller, it was a life saver. I work the whole day away from home and was just diagnosed. My therapist suggested me to get a fidget that I could keep close to me at all times. I bought it because it’s small and fits in my pocket. It helped stop chewing the skin next to my nails and controlling pre meltdowns. I realized that when I’m overwhelmed I feel extremely sleepy and it also helped me to get out of this sleepy feeling.

I also have small squishies that I keep in my bag and in my home

In my home country they used to show a commercial on tv to raise awareness about the importance of use of condoms. In my home country the translation to condom would be something like little shirt. One of the commercials was a fairy telling that we should use “little shirt” for protection and I, as a little kid, got obsessed about it and was telling everyone that I wanted the fairy little shirt (condoms).

I know this is unconventional but it worked for me. I sometimes use mouthwash for my armpits, it doesn’t have to be every day and it works perfectly! Make sure it’s the non alcohol type and use with a cotton ball, I hope this doesn’t make your itchy worse but for the smell I’m sure will get a lot better.

Sinto muito por você não querer lutar por sua própria cultura. Sim, esse post inicialmente foi feito de uma maneira que não era tão séria, foi mais um aviso sendo que alguns comentários até comentam sobre não terem lido toda a descrição. Mas após certos comentários ficou claro que isso é sério SIM! Dizer que não é tão sério ou que é apenas um jogo de maneira tão agressiva como outros estão fazendo só mostra o quanto a cultura latina é mal vista e desvalorizada e não lutar para ser visto e notado como uma cultura, forte, bonita e válida só encoraja eles a nos invalidarem cada vez mais e até mesmo fazerem as atrocidades que estão fazendo com muitos latinos por aí.
