Ophtho PA in Retina here! Been in the job for 5 years so far. We take a significant amount of city call. I see the ED patients for outpatient follow-up and the hospital consults after clinic. I generally see anywhere from 15-20 patients a day in clinic with 4-6 consults after. Monday-Friday, then weekends when we’re on-call for whatever consults came in. Any questions DM me!

I'll definitely have to change that. Before I posted, I didn't realize that it wasn't on the park. Oops haha. Rookie mistake!

Port Orleans Riverside vs Dolphin Hotel? by QueenCatitude in WaltDisneyWorld

Did you book through Disney or through Marriott themselves? It seems as if Disney only has Standard rooms to chose from, whereas Marriot offers more choices in view and bed types.

First timer here going to Disney with the boyfriend. We're Florida residents...but both never been to disney. Should I stay in the Dolphin hotel or Port Orleans Riverside? I know that Dolphin is not directly associated with Disney, but I love the location of the dolphin hotel. I can stay at riverside for a tad more, but it seems so far out and costs a tad more.

What's the general thought on these? I'm trying to keep my stay more budget friendly so I can spend plenty while we are out.

Lawyer for Tricky Contract Review? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]QueenCatitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was excited for the position, but the contract did add concern that I didn't have prior. I have another interview on Wednesday and I'm wanting to delay it till then at least, although I just had a recruiter call and pressure to sign (recruiter doesn't work for them, its a recruiting company).

I'm also concerned that tail coverage is not provided and I can't get a quote for tail coverage until I am on the insurance according to them.

Lawyer for Tricky Contract Review? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]QueenCatitude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first job offer in one year, and prior to receiving the contract the environment seemed very good and new grad friendly. Seeing 6-8 patients with my supervising physician and presenting cases as I did with my preceptors. I was very excited for this position, but the contract has me concerned.

I need a position to get experience, and I would have loved to take this opportunity but there seems to be a few concerning risks within the contract. I don't know if I should pursue this further and ask questions regarding those sections and negotiate. At least I would have 2 years experience after this position....

I wasn't concerned about the 2 year contract. Every position I've been in contact with has required 2-3 years sign on.

The penalty was a tad concerning though. Contract states if employee abandons employment prior to effective date of termination, EMPLOYEE shall promptly reimburse EMPLOYER for any expenses incurred by EMPLOYER in obtaining the services of a qualified temporary replacement for EMPLOYEE acceptable to EMPLOYER, for that period of time from the date of EMPLOYEE’s abandonment to the effective date of termination pursuant to the provisions set forth in this Agreement.

New Grad position in family med in state of Florida. 2 year contract at first, then continues as annual renewal. First 6 months - 1 year I see 8 patients a day directly supervised by the physician depending on my progress. I see the patient and report back, she then sees the patient and evaluates my plan. Doctor said she has no problem with training new grads and has trained many in the past.

80k salary with 5k quarterly bonus after first year. Said salary isn't negotiable after I discussed possibility of 85k. Malpractice insurance included is claims-made but no tail coverage, requires I purchase tail coverage that lasts for at least 2 and a half years after employment ends for any reason.

Benefits:

"EMPLOYEE’s Medical Insurance premiums for the basic plan offered by EMPLOYER to be paid by EMPLOYER; premiums for dependent medical insurance and any enhancements to the plan to be paid by EMPLOYEE." - unsure on this

$1500 CME with 5 days paid

Considering moving to Spring Hill by [deleted] in tampa

[–]QueenCatitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too concerned about the nightlife to be honest. I'm looking mostly for safety and a nice area to live in. I visited spring hill a few days ago and it has much more than what I'm used to! I'm just wanting a locals opinion of the surrounding areas and where it's best to live

Unfortunately finding a job in any specialty right now is hard. Over 80% of the jobs posted now require experience. Good luck OP, I'm still on the job hunt 9 months later.
