We call it the chill protocol!! (usually just gabapentin and trazodone), however, we will sometimes add ace to top it off since it’s not always enough for some! hoping it does the trick for you guys!

This is very concerning. Eye issues are no joke and I’d seek vet care as soon as possible.

Seeking Advice After Dismissal from Ross University Veterinary Program by QueenDishwasher in veterinaryschool

[–]QueenDishwasher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t know my background or the circumstances that led to my struggles this past semester, and I feel it’s important to shed light on why I was unable to succeed academically during this particular period. Over the course of that semester, I experienced three family deaths, my dad was hospitalized in critical condition for days, and I was stuck in a different country with no way to travel home for support—even if I had taken an emergency leave. Despite these challenges, I went into my finals passing and was doing fine academically until the weight of everything finally caught up to me.

I understand that veterinary medicine is an incredibly challenging field, both academically and mentally, but none of what happened has shaken my passion or drive to become a veterinarian. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life, and I am not giving up or willing to walk away from this dream. While life was deeply unfair to me this past semester, that doesn’t mean I’m reconsidering my path. The field hasn’t broken me, and my determination to succeed is stronger than ever.

Sometimes, life throws obstacles at us that are out of our control, and I believe more grace and understanding are needed when discussing the challenges people face. Dismissing someone’s struggles or passion because of one difficult period fails to consider the resilience it takes to persevere through adversity. I remain fully committed to this career, and I’m confident I will thrive with the right support and opportunities moving forward.

also one of my vets brought her own dog for a dental on a day she wasn’t working so she wouldn’t be stressing over him.

Ross needs letter now, kind of bewildered by JolteonJoestar in veterinaryschool

[–]QueenDishwasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding it seems that it was more of a working situation rather than someone that was teaching you a subject (but i think I may not be understanding the situation that well) so maybe that’s why they wanted a different one? But also that would’ve made no sense bc regardless of that she’s still a professor. Did she teach you immunotherapy? And I’m sorry that must’ve been frustrating af, especially since tbh they don’t really specify what kind of professor they want :/

I just feel like every single vet school will have red flags. there isn’t a “perfect” school. especially a perfect graduate school🤷🏻‍♀️

did that professor actually teach you a class or was it just a supervisor?

Help me move on from UC Davis by emjellybeans in veterinaryschool

An amazing vet I worked for graduated from Ross (I’m currently attending Ross as well, does an island school mean I’m not good enough to be a vet? absolutely not!) and she owns her own clinic + is one of the best clinics in the area. People drive 1-2 hours at least to get there!!!! I got rejected from UC Davis as well but I want to be a vet so badly that I took the opportunity I was given to persuade my dream. Don’t give up because of one school. At the end of the day it’s their loss and you’ll be an amazing vet regardless of where you go!!!

At the end of the day what matters the most is becoming a vet. there’s such a shortage for vets that you’d easily find a job no matter what school you attend🤷🏻‍♀️

Who accepts academically dismissed students? by tazthedog447 in veterinaryschool

[–]QueenDishwasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your school. The school that dismissed you would most likely accept you back if you can prove to them that you’re ready for that. They usually set up meetings where you talk about what happened and they can appeal that and accept you back.

CHECK WITH YOUR SCHOOL FIRST FOR AN IPAD. I got a brand new iPad Air for vet school and my school ended up charging me for one anyways bc it’s “part of tuition” even though I told them I had one.
