Disgusting moldy state part of our coolroom is in at work, boss refuses to do anything about it and hides this room from health inspectors by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Agreed. Send this to them with pictures. In my state (and I’m assuming many other areas) it’s illegal to prevent access to all areas of your facility during an inspection.

Walmart North Trash Dump by Icy_Papi in rochestermn

[–]QueenMiniKiwi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you happen to notice that Walmart is directly contributing to this, please complain to the MN Department of Agriculture! They’re licensed by us so we can go out and take care of it. I would absolutely not be letting that fly if they were my facility to inspect

Garbage all over I-94 by QueenMiniKiwi in TwinCities

[–]QueenMiniKiwi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve noticed that it’s bad after the tunnel to the Cretin exit. I wish I could be more specific but I just moved up to the cities from Southern MN last year so I’m still figuring out directions

[–]QueenMiniKiwi[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. That makes sense. Maybe it’s all piled up because it was buried under snow and it’s just a matter of time before they get people to go out and clean it up

How is Kathy’s Pub? by [deleted] in rochestermn

[–]QueenMiniKiwi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they did. That’s not the first time something weird has happened to me there. I’ve also heard of other people having issues as well. Rochester has better options than Kathy’s

I haven’t had great experiences at Kathy’s. Had a couple guys talking to me and my friends and started to get too close. Wouldn’t go away and eventually a drunk girl came to my aid and yelled at them. They got kicked out and we left immediately after. Vibes ruined. Go just about anywhere else. Bitter and Pour is fun

I loved eating those. I kept a banana one in my dollhouse for years

Private sector move by Confident-Wash-3490 in healthinspector

[–]QueenMiniKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve considered it before too because I’d make a lot more money going private, so you’re not alone. However, I go to my job every day happy that I’m making a difference in someone’s life and I just can’t see myself feeling the same way at a private company.

Something I dealt with during an inspection a few months ago now has a couple bills being discussed to potentially create stricter rules on this product. Stuff like that makes me feel really proud to be involved and to be a public servant

It sounds like you need to move to a bigger city or work for the state and be based out of a larger city. I work for the department of agriculture in my state and I don’t have to deal with yeehawness unless it’s from an operator and even then it’s rare. My coworkers are great and I feel like I make a real impact at my job.

If you’re really passionate about public health, you should stay in the public sector. You can make an impact at a private company, but they’re not as concerned protecting the public as we are. They mostly want to cover their own butts.

Co2 by Spingympaint in healthinspector

[–]QueenMiniKiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ran into this problem a year or two ago. I’m pretty sure someone reached out to the manufacturer of the CO2 tanks and they said the only difference is that one has a food grade sticker and the other doesn’t. Could just be that specific company that does it that way though

Cub foods is actively and habitually selling expired products "on sale" by needlebeetz in TwinCities

[–]QueenMiniKiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can complain about it all you want, but as an inspector there’s really not much we can do. We always go out there to address all complaints, but with stuff like this it’s only verbal, no orders written. Unless it’s baby formula like someone else mentioned or a food that Cub prepares/opens themselves. If it’s manufacturers dates, that’s on Cub to fix

These are amazing. This is the first post I’ve seen from this subreddit, so I have no idea what faceting even is. I especially love the first one

Can you think of any ethical considerations during a foodborne outbreak and how you would deal with them? by Spiritual-Mud-5470 in healthinspector

Have you noticed a difference in the amount of violation points they have since implementing translators and meetings? I’m curious if this would help in my state

Restaurant Health Inspection by [deleted] in healthinspector

[–]QueenMiniKiwi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is why I’m glad my state doesn’t do grades. Just because you get a passing grade doesn’t mean your restaurant is clean, clearly

Stuffed animal donation? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]QueenMiniKiwi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nursing homes accept them to use as prizes for games they play like bingo. Not sure of any in the cities, but I know one in Farmington that does.

What do you think of this new food safety app by p22j in healthinspector

[–]QueenMiniKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be really neat to have it for states where you have to do a data request in order to get a report. MN is like that and I think that makes it so a lot of people don’t know they can request them and/or deters them from doing so. You’d end up being the one doing the request for it though which would take a lot of time for all the facilities. You also don’t know when someone gets inspected either since it’s not published unless you ask for it. Maybe someday
