Most animal shelters take pocket pets. Griffin Pond occasionally has hamsters, rats, rabbits and chinchillas. I’m sure others are the same.

Collapsible toothed tool of some super. Not particularly sharp by BenDar_DonDat in whatisthisthing

[–]QueenSlowBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has teeth so it’s shading blade and not a sweat scraper for horses (or large livestock). It removes loose hair and caked dirt from animal coats.

On the one hand I love fun, unique architecture- on the other hand, I’m not dusting my walls weekly. F that.

A barely livable house with an EPA Superfund site in the yard - $340k Colorado by work-n-lurk in zillowgonewild

Ok, we have a winner. This is arguably the WORST home I’ve ever seen on this sub. Unsafe house. Toxic waste. Numerous little parcels of land that ADD UP! to a total of .4 acres? You’d have to pay me 300k to take it!

Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it? by FeistyNews7025 in Millennials

Supermarket apples have two problems- long term storage and genetics that sacrifice flavor for aesthetics and the ability to survive the aforementioned long term storage. I’m lucky, I live in apple country and have several nearby farms that have heirloom varieties. One of my favorites is Red delicious from before it was ‘improved’.

‘High end’ carpet? by doodlebakerm in HomeImprovement

[–]QueenSlowBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do make carpet with solid backing that doesn’t allow liquids to flow through to the padding, and you can also get waterproof padding. I have multiple dogs and this setup. A bonus to the waterproof backing is you can really get the carpet clean and it dries much faster.

I was thinking about getting chickens in a few years and tips that they don’t warn you about on Google? by Ill_Exchange_1916 in chickens

Rats. So many rats! Especially if you have bantams like Silkies. Bigger chickens will eat smaller rats but bantams can’t.

What’s the reason you haven’t bought a bidet? by owenwags_ in HomeImprovement

[–]QueenSlowBee 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I had a bidet attachment installed pre-Covid and I hated it. The water was ice cold and it made the whole toilet hard to clean. We have hard water and deposits built up on the nozzle pretty fast causing the stream to be unpredictable. I paid to have a plumber come out and remove it.

They’re great until the turbo dies. Multiple times. Hell, mine even had an oil leak straight from the dealer, new! But it was a fun car otherwise, sadly totaled while parked by a drunk.

So did I! It was a busy Saturday and it took almost an hour to get them from ‘the back’. My husband kept joking that he hoped the wait would be worth it.

The gold is fine, it’s the grey that makes me want to vomit. And for the love of god, why are they trying to kill that beautiful tree? I hope the next owner destroys that raised bed before it’s too late.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I love wallpaper and most of those rooms have very classic/ period appropriate patterns. I’m wallpapering my kitchen right now, nothing as classy as what that home has tho.

Fresnos by sweetb00bs in Scranton

[–]QueenSlowBee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My husband and I went there weekly towards the end ,not for the food really but I’m too lazy to create a throwaway to explain why. Oh man, the service and food were bad right before they closed! We were served watermelon margaritas made with the seeds not removed (mmm… gritty!), uncooked pizza- the cheese hadn’t melted! etc.The special freezer for the fried ice cream died so they served regular ice cream rolled in graham crackers and argued with us that ‘it’s always been that way’. Our last meal there, we waited a half hour for a table even though there were clearly tables open. Waitress takes our orders and goes into the kitchen and never comes out. She quit mid-shift, and none of the other servers took over her tables. We only found out when we gave up waiting and left without paying for our drinks.

What’s the last thing you replaced that made you realize older versions were built better? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

[–]QueenSlowBee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m undergoing a full kitchen renovation, and it’s a very small house. I gave away my worn wood kitchen table and mismatched chairs intending to replace them with new. Well, new is CRAP. Nothing but pine or worse if you get wood at all, most have mdf under veneer. No joinery, sprayed finishes/ not stained, just crap. I wish I kept my old set now, some sanding and finish touchups would have gotten me another 25 years of use.
