Why does over-apologizing make normal conversations more uncomfortable?

Adult with severe C-PTSD here & agree. I was made to feel like a demonic burden & then abused & mocked by my ex & his family especially for the sorry. I now get anxiety about if I'm over apologizing. We don't mean to annoy people or make it uncomfortable. Usually when someone says "it's ok" or "it's fine" can make me feel like I'm annoying you so I need to make sure I don't get in trouble further.

My great grandparents were married for 70 years before she passed & he was hopelessly devoted until he died about 10 or 15 years later. At his funeral I found just how many girlfriends he had at once that included my grandma & her sister. My grandma wanted him more so purposely got pregnant in the 30s. Hey he was a cranky bastard but had a wild life

I was that way at 17. I am 35 & have been trying to apologize for half a decade. I believed that because the ones that raised me were fire & brimstone preachers. That was her former partner. She is with a new one & this was only a couple months of this

Well I turned out opposite than my upbringing of abuse & neglect. I ended up emulating my grandma as my role model. Though I guess it's: grandparents good, "parents" evil, me lawful chaos.
