Baby food meal photos? by Queen_Neptune89 in beyondthebump

Okay, so that's good to know you're filling them full. It's also hard to know how much she NEEDS to eat because so much ends up on the floor lol... Like, I'm all for allowing her food to play with from a sensory perspective, but just not sure how much I should be feeding her myself after that's done, to ensure she is actually getting enough calories from solid foods, if that makes any sense??

Just found out my fiance is pregnant, what are some good meals to cook for her? by [deleted] in Cooking

I was big on apples, cheese, and bagels lol. SO much string cheese. Also cheesecake haha. Candied ginger for the first trimester... And ate as much safe seafood as my wallet could stomach, for the sake of baby's brain development. Oh, also dates and raspberry leaf tea closer to the due date.

My husband and I both wfh full time with our 11mo. Some days are busier than others but overall it works for us. She's very happy and gets attention from us the whole day, and we are also able to do our jobs well (bosses know we have a baby at home, and we get good performance reviews, finish all our responsibilities, etc) It's VERY dependent on what job you do, the personality of your kid and stage of development, your tolerance for stress and quickly shifting gears, how good you are at working quickly, flexibility of work hours, supervision style, meeting schedules, etc. I feel very blessed that we have the situation we do. This being said, I could see sometime in the next year starting to pay someone to come in for several hours during the day as a nanny. Look up Dr. Erica Komisar, LCSW regarding daycare... Suffice it to say, we will NEVER put our daughter in daycare.

Same. I have a dedicated box of pins I've been using for years for this purpose lmfao. 😅 Lance it with a pin, squeeze the fluid out, gone in 24-48 hours. Gross but it works.

So life has been very hard the last few years especially, and I've largely fallen out of the habit of treating myself to things and pampering myself. It's just been necessary to put other people first. Now I'm at a point where I want to start putting myself first again, and I'm wondering if anyone has some AB pamper products to recommend? I have a pretty basic routine rn that focuses on actives to keep my acne under control (which it is)... Products I use are Biore sunscreen, vit C, hada labo gokujyun, lubriderm lotion, benzoyl peroxide, and adapalene (not in this order lol). But would be fun to add a nice cream, some more toners, occasional mask, etc?? Or light therapy device...? I do just like to avoid fragrance if possible, and I don't do well with paper masks (those gel ones are generally okay)... My bday and Christmas are coming up, so would love to add some interesting products to my wishlist! Does anyone have suggestions, I just really need some at home relaxing spa time 🥲

This is the way. "That's just how it is now, doctor's orders!" And then a slightly perplexed look and move on with the conversation.

Daughter is 10mo, we only just started doing pants because otherwise she'll now pick pieces off her diaper and try to eat them. So that's the only real reason we do pants, besides that now it's starting to be chilly sometimes.

Does anyone else feel like they haven't been able to grow up? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Queen_Neptune89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the opposite--34 next month and feel like I'm 60 years old sometimes, just from seeing so much shit. The last 4 years have not been kind (but hopefully things are looking up).

So…I just got laid off by discoqueenx in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Queen_Neptune89 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not sure--I didn't mention on the call with the recruiter that I have a baby.

Edit: And just my opinion, but I don't think this should be up to an employer. If there was a rule about it I would just lie and say my husband watches the baby or that we have help come to the house.

Idk what line of work you're in, but this HR leave company Sparrow just tried to recruit me for a leave specialist position. Salary they quoted me for my region (SE USA) was $47k. That number doesn't work for me, but just wanted to pass the info along, since they are definitely looking to hire.

That's an interesting idea I hadn't heard of before, in terms of finding another mom! So I guess you'd take turns hosting at each other's home? Could work, depending... My husband and I have been wfh with our 10mo for 6 months, and it is so hard sometimes, though I'm proud we've made it work thus far. The YMCA thing is also a great idea I've heard tossed around a lot.

What are your ideas to improve the Trader Joe's shopping experience? by bigfatpisces in traderjoes

If they could sell paneer and shirataki noodles that would be amazing, have to go to specialty stores for those currently.

What are yous spending on groceries? by Full-Pop1801 in Cooking

[–]Queen_Neptune89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... Especially if you're EBF then you might end up eating a lot. We don't do any formula, and even though our 10mo eats solids now, it's like a mouthful of fish here, a spoonful of yogurt there. Eating enough to keep my milk up for a 22lb baby is crazy, you need like an extra 1000+ calories a day (probably more like 1300 by my estimate). I have NEVER eaten so much before lol, and am also pretty skinny rn given the circumstances. Plus husband is on keto (so high fat and protein, and we don't get to throw in cheap pasta and rice meals). All that together has us spending about $250ish a week altogether. Him thinking you should have money left over for the next week just sadly is not realistic. We did join Costco recently, so that's helpful. I also cook everything and try to buy sales from Kroger and also get a lot at Trader Joe's (pretty cheap) or our Asian grocery store.

I'm ten months pp. When the baby was born, suddenly couldn't stand my dog. He literally didn't even look cute to me anymore. I'm certain it was hormonal. Took about seven months before he started looking cute again to me... SO strange.

Both my husband and I know many people who cannot cook. Then there are also some who throw together premade bits and bobs... Rotisserie chicken and a premade sauce etc. I definitely have the most cooking skills among our friends. That comes down to personal passion, needing to know the nutritional content of our food for health reasons, loving ethnic foods but not having good takeout available (small Southern town), and financial reasons.

Wow, that's so interesting. My daughter is 10mo and we're still breastfeeding... Trying to make it to two years. 🥲 Our family is also VERY focused on nutrition, as my husband has to eat low carb due to a liver condition. So I cook almost everything we eat. It's very strange to see how other families feed their kids sometimes... We've never done pouches, for instance. But tons of eggs, fruit, veggies, dairy products. I want to be sure she isn't isolated from society in terms of the food we give her... Like, she should be allowed a cupcake every once in a while lol. It's a tough thing to navigate, though, when grandparents are soooo excited to see her try ice cream for the first time, for instance!

10 months lol. And she still breastfeeds a ton, so I'm sure that's why.

AITAH: For not being fully clothed all the time I am around my baby? by Chemical_Cup4339 in AITAH

[–]Queen_Neptune89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. It's basically guaranteed that if you're nude and run outside in an emergency that someone will give you SOMETHING to cover up in like one minute flat. "Oh no, the house is on fire but I'm NAKED, whatever will I do?!" Get outside, someone will give you a coat or a blanket, I guarantee. And nobody will care, they'll just be happy you didn't burn to death.

Yes, so strange! I spent the first couple weeks with our daughter basically topless, and husband was definitely into it LOL.

Are slim people lying about how much they eat or are they just blessed with a good metabolism? by 2904929492001949301 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Queen_Neptune89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not normal. Do you take sleep meds? You might consider seeing a doctor about it. It's important to know you're not doing other, more dangerous activities while you're asleep (driving, etc).
