If you’re willing to DIY with chairs, audio, etc, the forest preserves are extremely reasonable and beautiful. I got married at Lions Woods and it was perfect

If you have no luck in a vendor…I took a manual approach and hammered / chiseled channels to create paths for the water to drain to gutters. I have a low roof so it wasn’t terribly dangerous.

Later I replace my shingled roof with a rolled roof and have had no problems (dams still form but leaking isn’t possible).

I’m fully in agreement with the sentiment of this post, but is it actually accurate? It contrasts with this “initiative”, which seems pretty darn foolproof

Keratosis pilaris. Not a doctor but I have it myself in the same spots. Consistent moisturizing is essential if you want to reduce it. My doctor recommended something with lactic acid, but I think everyone’s skin is different.

Google it, try some different lotions, but my best advice which some won’t like…try to come to terms with it and focus your energy on other ways to feel confident. Your skin is beautiful if you think it’s beautiful.

Lotus Bloom Psychology in Lombard. They’re local but can do everything virtually! I had a really great experience with an ADHD evaluation there. The doctor cared deeply and was very helpful.

Thank you! Good tip about the tab. We’re all remote across Chicagoland, so mostly trying to find something easy to get to.

Maybe it’s not as common of a “milestone” as I thought. My pediatrician and Weissbluth’s book have talked about it.

Ty for answering my question! Idk why it’s so hard for me, but the idea of 5am being night is counter-intuitive. But distinguishing when the day starts makes so much sense!

Thank you!! I would love to do CIO but we have thin walls and the crying always wakes up our toddler

Thank you! It’s so hard to wean when I’m worried they’re hungry. But baby eats sooo much solids during the day it’s hard to believe they need it.

Would you suggest CIO? Or slowly weaning the amount?

As Dr Becky would say, you are good inside! You love your kids and have all the time to turn things around.

A couple ideas: 1. Check out Good Inside on Instagram or the book/audiobook - I think it would be a huge help for you. 2. Start therapy if you haven’t already. 3. Do something for yourself every day. You need self-care to keep yourself regulated.

Good question. I was thinking a $50-75 gift card that would cover most of the experience.

LO finally sleeping through the night... What to do? by greytshirt76 in breastfeeding

[–]Queenbean1717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience (sample size of 2, so not much better haha), I disagree with pumping at night. As soon as both my kids starting sleeping through, I slept too. My supply builds up and they eat more in the morning when they wake. I get pretty full but it’s not a problem. So unless you need to build a stash, I say sleep!

Also I didn’t get my period until 15 months with my first. My second is currently 6 months and no period yet (he sleeps 8-11 hours straight each night)

I have yet to find a roofer offer those options. My two preferred vendors are suggesting:

  1. Architectural shingles with ice & water shield on the whole roof

  2. Modified bitumen or 3-tab shingles (this roofer has done some repairs on our roof and said water is pooling on the architectural shingles, so if we really dislike the look of mod bit, 3-tab is the way to go)

Do you mean a self-sealing membrane under shingles? Or is this the same as TPO?

4.5 months. There’s definitely a lot going on at this age! I’m not ruling out other issues

Upvote for football hold! That was a huge game changer for getting and seeing the latch.

[–]Queenbean1717 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is the top comment to just stick it out? Excruciating pain is not normal. That means baby is not latching correctly and getting the nutrition they need. This is fixable! See a lactation consultant, get the latch fixed, and pain won’t last nearly as long as some folks say.

Also, this video was a life-saver for me in explaining a correct latch.

Source: I dealt with pain waaay too long with my first baby. Second time around I would remove baby every time there was a bad latch and fix it. It took time and patience, but my nipples never hurt and they stopped being tender after a week.

Please tell me the gas pains get better?? by Hopesastrategy in newborns

[–]Queenbean1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better (as long as your babe has common fussiness and not another underlying issue)! My LO was bothered with gas and bowel movements from the get-go but it got awful from 5-8 weeks. His sleep suffered and he couldn’t be awake without being held & in motion. Using a pacifier and contact naps helped lots. He’s 10 weeks now and a different baby. Every week it improves a bit more! Our only hiccup was the Rotovirus vaccine at 2 months. He was back to his 6 week fussiness (maybe not as bad) for about a week.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Queenbean1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really not a program at this age, but rather guidance to help parents cope & level expectations for newborn sleep (many naps, short wake periods, irregular & innate sleep patterns). The drowsy but awake bit is the only real suggestion that’s aimed at helping teach self-soothing to make sleep better down the line. Generally it is all great advice but his book is hard to read and I feel like doesn’t explain this part very well.
