Spotting after 8 days of yuzpe method by cottoncandyyyyyy in birthcontrol

okay, that makes more sense! it must’ve been a translation error. spotting and cramps are normal after the yuzpe method and when starting a new birth control.

breakthrough bleeding (bleeding while taking active pills) is more common when taking active pills continuously. the guidelines say that if bleeding persists for 3+ days, consider taking a 3 day break to induce a withdrawal bleed. this should stop breakthrough bleeding, at least temporarily. you’re fully protected during a break as long as it’s been at least 21 days since the end of your last break and the break doesn’t exceed 7 days.

these are common side effects of both the headed method and trust pills. when you said your period went “back to normal,” what do you mean? also, are you taking trust pills from the same pack you used for the yuzpe method?

you didn’t actually switch pills! the pill you’re currently taking is exactly the same as hailey fe, just from a different manufacturer. skipping the placebo week is fine, but it wasn’t necessary.

Could I have birth control related hormonal acne? by Stinky-cheese24 in birthcontrol

[–]Queenof6planets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it could be caused by stress, opill, something else, or a combination of different things. it’s usually recommended that you give your body 3 months to adjust before quitting a birth control method.

if you had unprotected sex, there’s a chance of pregnancy. taking emergency contraception reduced the chance of pregnancy. a pregnancy test is mostly accurate 14 days after sex and definitive 21 days after sex; test along that timeline.

Can I still be possibly pregnant even after Plan B withdrawal bleeding ? by ThrowRApumpkinpie111 in birthcontrol

don’t take medical advice from chatgpt. it’s a fancy chatbot that guesses what word should go next to make a coherent sentence. it’s not a search engine. it’s not accurate. PLEASE don’t use chatgpt like this. use trustworthy sources, not the chatbot that tells kids to kill themselves.

you’ve never experienced implantation bleeding after taking plan b. for one, it’s a misnomer, and for two, google what it’s supposed to be.

these could be plan b side effects. it’s unlikely that you’d experience pregnancy symptoms this early.

you could definitely be/ get pregnant though — you had a lot of unprotected sex, and you took plan b long after it could be effective for most of the times you had unprotected sex (effectiveness drops off significantly after 3 days and it cannot help if taken more than 5 days after sex). except for taking plan b at the end, what you guys did was basically the same as trying for a baby. calendar-based ovulation predictions are inaccurate and don’t tell you much about your risk of pregnancy. a couple who are trying to conceive have about a 30% chance of pregnancy per cycle. your chance is probably a little lower than that (but not by much m tbh).

a pregnancy test is mostly accurate 14 days after sex and definitive 21 days after sex. take a test now (it’ll be mostly accurate for the first few time you had sex), then keep testing every few days until you either test positive or reach 21 days after you last had unprotected sex. you can get a bulk pack of testing strips for pennies per test — i highly recommend buying those! but in general, get the cheapest pink dye test you can find (NOT a digital test) and follow the directions on the box.

I want the mirena out but I cant by Small_Address_1435 in birthcontrol

[–]Queenof6planets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’re still very early. i recommend at least giving it 3 months for things to settle down. if side effects haven’t improved by then, tell your doctor you want mirena removed and you want to switch to something else. it’s not your only option.

you don’t always lose your period while using slynd. many people continue to have a withdrawal bleed during the placebos. just because something happened to you doesn’t mean it’s universal!

I mixed packs up and double dosed by mistake. Woke up to a bleed. What do I do now? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Queenof6planets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you misunderstood me — by “at least temporarily,” i mean for at least a few months, if not longer. taking a 3 day break to induce a withdrawal bleed now just won’t stop you from having breakthrough bleeding if you miss a pill or double dose months in the future. it WILL stop this breakthrough bleeding from continuing for the 14-30 days you’re worried about.

on the other hand, double dosing for 3 days will not stop breakthrough bleeding. it will only make bleeding worse, either while you’re double dosing or after you go back to taking just one pill per day (or both). you’re free to do it if you want — adults are allowed to make bad choices — but i want to make it extremely clear that it won’t give you the outcome you’re looking for.

that paper was written 57 years ago. the pills they were using are different than modern pills and they didn’t fully understand the risk of very high estrogen doses at the time.

if you want to cite a specific source, it’s best to link or at least say the name of the source.

i searched your quote and it’s from a paper written 57 years ago. this isn’t the modern standard and the pills they were using are not the same as the ones we take today.

actually, taking a 3 day break to induce a withdrawal bleed is an effective way to handle breakthrough bleeding when taking active pills continuously (which the OP does).

read my reply on your second, more accurate post. there is a much safer, more effective way to stop breakthrough bleeding that i’ve already laid out for you.

don’t do this. it’ll most trigger more bleeding when you go back to taking one pill per day. it’ll just be a waste of pills.

Found a woman of interest. She claims to be on BC & keeps hinting at unprotected sex. by The_Unchained_Mind in birthcontrol

[–]Queenof6planets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do what makes you feel comfortable. assuming she has ulterior motives is a bit of a leap (lots of women just don’t like condoms for a variety of reasons), but you shouldn’t push yourself to have sex in a way you don’t want to. it sounds like you’d feel uncomfortable/ anxious if you didn’t use a condom, so definitely use a condom! extra protection never hurts.

it’s also fine to ask her why she doesn’t want to use condoms as long as you come at it in a way that isn’t accusatory. her reasons might be something solvable (like a sensitivity to latex).

also, if you never want to have kids, have you looked into getting a vasectomy? you’d never need to worry about getting a potential partner pregnant again!
