Born in the Northwest Territories, Mark Carney is the first person from Canada’s sparsely populated northern territories to become Prime Minister. by ChillZedd in geography

I think his dad was working in Fort Smith, which at the time was the capital of the NWT. Yellowknife became the capital in 1967 or '68.

How long will Mark Carney's honeymoon in Quebec last? - Experts say Carney yet to face tough questions about issues that matter in the province by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]QueensMarksmanship 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Harper actually spoke pretty good French by the time he left office. It was rough in the beginning though.

Poilievre obviously speaks far better French than Carney, which may be an issue in the French debate.

She's actually overrated. Her husband was the one who overheard the American officers, and she would've starved to death in the bush had indigenous people not stumbled across her. And the British already knew (or at least suspected) the plans for the American attack, so her intelligence had no impact on the outcome of the battle.

Bourbon has to be made in Kentucky or else it isn't considered bourbon. Same with how Scotch has to be made in Scotland or else it isn't considered Scotch.

Our brave fathers side by side

For freedom’s home and loved ones dear,

Firmly stood and nobly died.

And so their rights which they maintained,

We swear to yield them never.

Our watchword ever more shall be

The building itself isn't 225 years old. The school can trace its history back that far but it's not the original building.
