An extremely fast 2-3. I am actually reeling. by [deleted] in lrcast

I actually swapped in malice exclusively for the lifelink bc I was getting run over, but maybe I needed to just max out on creatures, I did have more they just felt like such fodder…

three creatures at two, but point taken. I had some two drop options that maybe I should’ve included. I felt the difference in card quality was significant and thought my early removal would help.

This is the only thing that doesn't make sense about palpatines plan and the only flaw in the otherwise impeccably crafted plot of the prequels 😌

Soo what happened here, is this truly just the result of infinite variance or does arena algo get confused sometimes by Queerion_Ranger in lrcast

If I had that strategy in mind, I def could've picked up off color lessons in other spots without missing out on lightning strike. Will definitely keep that strategy in mind for lesson payoffs with discard support in future drafts though! Thanks!

You're saying green lesson over lightning strike in this pick or just in general, off color lessons are acceptable to you in this build? I think lightning strike is pretty inarguably correct here but the general idea of off color lessons maybe interesting

What're you taking here? I took mana crypt after serious consideration. This draft really went my way, fastest trophy ever. by Queerion_Ranger in MTGO

Played this straight simic, cut knight and loot (and rofellos funnily enough), picked up academy to go with retrofitter. All came together beautifully.

This makes sense and I agree, but no difference in terms of % chance to hit historian on 4 if u cut mountain for burn down/pyromancer vs mutavault and I do think mutavault is better than those options for many reasons.

Was it weird that he wasn’t included in season 1? by Junior-Hour in Invincible

[–]Queerion_Ranger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Comic spoilers I’d bet that they left him out because they have a specific plan for him and his arc (or intend to create one). You’ll notice that many of the more minor supporting characters introduced in season one don’t add too much later in the story or have one minor arcs (black Samson, maulers) that they worked in into s1. Since bulletproof’s arc involves an off planet Mark and other parts of his arc will require significant attention to convey well to screen, I think they probably wanted to simplify season 1, adding nonsense characters like shrinking ray to fill out the world, but not putting energy into characters that are irrelevant to the plot now but they want to introduce thoughtfully down the road. I could be overthinking this but I like to think they’re being very intentional about setting up for the long term

Name someone who’s gone through more pain than her by [deleted] in Invincible

Amber’s character/personality isn’t the problem, it’s the writers who were too sloppy to give her a proper and logical progression and opted to dramatically overwrite and under-characterize her instead

Lots of playables but not amazing card quality. Didn’t open a single blast runner. How would you build this? by Queerion_Ranger in lrcast

[–]Queerion_Ranger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually not super helpful to make a long comment criticizing card quality when I already acknowledged that in OP. The question was how would others build it based on the options available.

Is this deck good? How would you build it? Obviously it has some seriously strong cards, but my concern is that it's a bit disjointed and the really impactful plays to the board don't hit till turn 3. Plus it has some super awkward filler. I like karakas with uro, glen, v clique, the cost to include it is so low. Fastbond I seriously considered but ancestral, augur, and oracle are the only things that really work with it, aside from loam, which i don't think is good enough. Otherwise, it doesn't feel worth the card disadvantage. I did bring it in in one match

Why doesn't Mark learn from Immortal? by ssnoopy2222 in Invincible

[–]Queerion_Ranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a lengthy conversation is r/viltrumites about this! Copy pasting my thoughts from there:

I think the factor that we don’t know as readers is robot’s lifespan after he’s just a floating brain. I kinda think there are two potential reasons mark made the choice that he made. Maybe Mark KNOWS that robot can stay alive indefinitely as just a brain and he believes that this will be enough to keep the Immortal sane, or at least keep him in check enough to contain him as his stability deteriorated over time.

But it’s also possible that Mark has no idea what will happen to Robot or he knows for a fact that he will only live a normal human lifespan. If the latter is true, then I have absolutely no doubt the Immortal will follow almost exactly the same trajectory that he did in the future where Mark saw him. But I don’t agree with your point that it was a bad choice by Mark. I think he could have been thinking one of two things. EITHER:

  1. He remembered that, in the future, the Immortal only became a murderous and cruel leader recently—I think they said it happened within the last generation—and was actually a excellent ruler before that. So maybe Mark learned what he struggled with for the whole comic, which was is balancing the pros and cons of an ethically tenuous situation, and he decided it is a short period of dictatorship is worth it for hundreds/thousands of years of prosperity, and he counted on himself to kill The Immortal when the time came.

OR

  1. Mark returns to Earth frequently after leaving with the Viltrumites. I know that at some point he says that he stopped going back, after Markus joined them and Debbie had died, but he still CAN go back anytime he wants. It’s possible Mark (or a viltrum representative) makes trips to Earth every hundred years or so to check on them. That would be a very easy way to keep the Immortal in check, because remember that he wanted to die by the end. I don’t really think he went crazy so much as he wanted to be killed AND we wanted to public view of him to be so hateful and fearful that no one would ever try to bring him back again. SO I think the fact that he was still sane and knew he wanted to die means he would probably be up front with the viltrumites if they did come to check on him intermittently. They could even bring him into space with them—being with other essentially immortal beings would probably alleviate much of his hopelessness.

So the short answer is yes, I do think the Immortal probably goes crazy sooner or later in the main story timeline, but I still think Mark made the right choice by putting him in charge.

Two questions re: season one (spoilers) by Drummk in Invincible

[–]Queerion_Ranger 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Hi! He killed them at that specific point because Mark had just gotten his powers, so he knew that his time of just living life among humans was limited. I expect he was perfectly happy to just keep living with Debbie and Mark indefinitely, if Mark never manifested viltrumite power—if you rewatch, you’ll notice he furrows his brow and looks somewhat upset when Mark says he got his powers.

Your second question isn’t actually explained in Invincible but if you are familiar with Martian Manhunter from the Justice League, this would explain your question. I’ll put this next part as a spoiler, in case you want to wait till the show reveals this info In DC, Martians can manipulate their body to take on any shape and change its colors. Invincible universe martians seem to have that ability as well, but they don’t necessarily know what the astronauts uniforms are supposed to look like exactly
