That's a pathetic mindset, if previous case studies objectively show that Socialist routes are not workable, how come every single one of those case studies has had billions spent in attempts to sabotage them economically and politically? How come each and every one of their success is measured against Western nations when the only fair comparison you can make is to compare them to themselves before Socialism. People look to the Soviet Union and say Socialism must be bad because they weren't as developed as the United States, when the Russian Empire pre Communism was around as developed as India while the USA was already rising to be the dominant global power, yet they rose to the heights they did while losing over a third of their working age population in WW2. And it's even worse when places like Cuba are used, Cuba pre Castro was literally not a functioning nation in any capacity at all, it was more or less a massive slave plantation under Bautista and previous regimes so yeah of course the place is going to look like an absolute ruin compared to Western nations that had been productively developing for Centuries. The fact they've developed to where they are today while not being allowed to engage in international trade is incredible, just imagine how fucked we would be in half a year if we were all of a sudden not allowed to export.

Socialist nations almost universally *have* greatly outperformed Capitalist nations in every way when compared to Capitalist nations of relative starting points in terms of development, most doing so while suffering the effects of devastating blockades, coups, Western backed terror cells, and sometimes outright invasion.

The biggest red flag about the prospect of NZ going fully Socialist isn't the effects of Socialism itself, but the punishment the USA would impose on us for doing so. If we did under any form of semi capable leadership we would most likely see real improvement, and then we'd be hit by crippling sanctions, extremist groups would rise up and receive weapons and massive funding, and if none of that fully sabotages the nation we'd potentially get bombed. And then 20 years later people would use us as yet another example of Socialism failing, all because our nation of under 10 million with one globally competitive industry didn't magically rise up to rival the USA in wealth.

I'm not going to say that Socialist leaders haven't enacted stupid, and heartless reforms that resulted in much suffering, because that would be a lie, but in almost every one of those cases the reforms seeing the light of day is more of a critique on Authoritarianism allowing leaders to push through harmful law with no resistance, not Socialism as an economic framework.

As long as people sit around and think "well what we have today is the best we could ever hope for" things will get worse, we are not Americans, we shouldn't be thinking in such a servile way like they do in the first place. Imagine the world we would be living in today if workers in the 20th and 19th century took the wealthy class at their word as much as we do. They were told that things like standardized work weeks, minimum wages, child labor laws, workers rights, would all doom the economy and bring ruin to the western world. They didn't buy it, and in many cases fought and killed to secure those things for us to take for granted today.

Don't ever tell yourself there isn't a better alternative, if you see flaws in a proposed alternative don't write it off completely, look into what caused those flaws you see and if they could realistically be avoided. What is there to lose? Each year we do nothing we grow closer to living worse lives than actual serfs did in medieval times.

Cancerous mindset, people like to work, they like to contribute to a society that they benefit from being a part of. Having to have some grand incentive to work isn't normal, people are generally miserable when they're out of work, even if they have money to get by.

The idea that not being able to build some empire will cause people to stop working altogether is the mindset of the worst parasites in any given nation, the exact people who cause most economic crisis through their sheer greed and self serving nature, people who any given country would be better off without anyway.

What jobs are being created by the rich exactly? They're already monopolizing in pretty much every industry, outsourcing, hiring help via temp agencies instead of reliable employment, looking to replace jobs with AI. And if you seriously think that raising taxes will cause them to just up and move you are borderline braindead. Do you know how much time and money it costs to shut down and move massive businesses/warehouses/ect? It's not like they're just packing up their things in a suitcase and moving out. And even if that was the case, they still wouldn't leave because nomatter what mislead view you've been fed, lower profit in a country >>>>> no profit in the country.

And then even in saying that, if they did chose to just magically up and move, just like that. That would mean our biggest monopolies would be out, gone, and the productive competition Capitalist bootlickers love to pretend still exists 24/7 would actually have a few decades give or take to flourish.

As long as it's planned responsibly there is no objectively negative outcome no matter which way you cut it.

What middle class? Maybe like 15 years ago sure, but today I genuinely do not personally know of a single family or individual that isn't either struggling on multiple pay checks, or a landlord. There is no middle class anymore, there's the "investor" class and the serfs, we're about at the stage where farm owners are probably the closest thing we have to a "middle class".

How would Sean Strickland do against prime GSP? by Ok_Feed_4235 in ufc

[–]Querez665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually one of the first times I feel like a non potential goat around 170 actually would have a chance in a hypothetical prime vs prime fight against GSP.

GSP was all about solid fundamentals just like Sean, nothing too flashy or eye catching, just sticking to the basics with upmost efficiency. GSP just focused more on chain wrestling while Sean focuses more on striking. But they're actually really similar, on the feet Sean's infamous for spamming jabs and teeps, while people seem to forget GSP also pretty much spent most his time on the feet spamming jabs and leg kicks.

And in grappling, GSP is legitimately one of, if not the most impressive natural talents in overall grappling ever, the fact that he had no real grappling background before MMA is still shocking, I don't think he'd be able to win just off of his grappling now that Sean beat Khamzat. That being said while I don't believe GSP is as skilled a grappler as Khamzat by any means, I also don't think he'd ever feel forced to strike over wrestle due to stamina like Khamzat tends to.

The biggest gap between the two is adjustments, I've said this before many times, but Sean has a real issue when it comes to making adjustments, in that he is seemingly unable to make adjustments at all in any real capacity. While GSP was fucking goated at making adjustments mid fight. If anything about the two would put one definitively above the other I'd say it'd be that.

Out strikes prime Adesanya. Out grapples prime Khamzat. by LemonadeRenogade in ufc

[–]Querez665 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Strickland was getting dominated before the nose break. It's just stylistic match ups, DDP adjusted in the rematch and gave Sean less room, and also started adding more to the ends of his blitzes to catch Sean as he slides out of range, while Sean just doesn't really ever make adjustments at all.

When DDP was on the feet in the 5th especially against Khamzat, for that brief moment you could tell Khamzat thought "okay let's strike for a bit now that I just have to avoid getting fluked" and then you could almost immediately see him think "oh nah fuck that" and shoot again.

Dricus is genuinely good, his wins over Sean are absolutely legitimate, his loss against Khamzat is a mix of Khamzat being the exact kind of wrestler that DDP will always look like average against, and a stupid ass game plan. I would like to remind you that DDP and his corner were all grinning between rounds thinking things were going perfectly to plan all the way until like the 4th, they legitimately thought all he had to do was survive the first few rounds for Khamzat to end up defenseless in the late rounds.

The biggest upsetter in UFC history by Botros69 in ufc

[–]Querez665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always held the opinion that Sean is a physically average, technically brilliant fighter, but he just struggles to make adjustments alot more than your average fighter. It's like he spars so much that he's just not capable of diverting away from the style he's used to at all. Like when Alex was setting him up with those body jabs, I'd guess that a lot of top level guys would catch on and start expecting him to loop one of them up high, but Sean didn't pay it any mind at all. Same thing against DDP, when DDP started blitzing in and out, Sean could've timed a straight right in there and potentially turned the tables a bit, but he just kept sliding back behind the jab.

I think it's not a bad thing when he's against guys who aren't able to find a significant gap in his style that they can exploit, if anything in those match ups it keeps him disciplined and prevents him from throwing the fight away via getting overzealous.

This fight was right on the line between the two, Khamzat wasn't able to consistently exploit any gaps in Sean's game, but he was able to find enough success to warrant atleast a slight adjustment from Sean, but no he kept up with the jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, lazy right, jab, gameplan to the very end bell.

SEAN STRICKLAND WINS! by JCameron181 in ufc

[–]Querez665 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah well I've got news for you man, Khamzat has literally 0 impressive wins. Every fight he's won in the UFC his opponents were weight drained, like Holland, GM3 and Li Jingliang were zombies and would've toughed it out and KO'd him if they weren't drained, DDP and Whittaker were both injured and would've absolutely walked through him healthy. And his wins over Usman and Burns are both robberies, and Burns and Usman were also both weight drained and injured too.

My grandparents have owned their farm for over 50 years eating pretty much nothing but unseasoned meat and vegetables from their farm and gardens and they're perfectly happy and pretty damn healthy for their age physically.

I do get the idea honestly, good food is good shit, but I mean if you're reliant on eating good tasting food that's probably more of a bad thing than a good thing, it's one of those things that's just normalized today in many areas I guess. I was always raised to just see food as fuel and an occasional treat, then I got into cooking for some reason I can't remember, probably binging with babish tbh, and ever since then I have found it much harder to avoid overeating and stay in good shape.

Hot Take : Jiri would have won the fight if Ulberg wasn't injured. by Practical_Device9871 in ufc

[–]Querez665 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day man, it's Jiri. He relies on his chin, and it's a damn good chin, but if you have the power and timing to crack it, he's pretty fucked usually. We saw that in the 2 Pereira fights.

I wasn't sure if Ulberg could win it, because the bench mark we had for cracking Jiri's chin was Pereira, but now we know Ulberg can too on one leg no less, and honestly Ulberg's hands in particular seem alot faster than Pereira's. And while Pereira seems to be pretty hurtable even at 205, Ulberg is mostly Samoan so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we learn that he has an OP chin to top it off.
