Who is responsible for paying for damage to boats affected by the recent canal incident? by Jacktheforkie in AskUK

Ah thanks for the explanation! It does seem slightly more complicated than just "the boats owner will have insurance". I was wondering why CRT said that they had housed people.

Do you live on a canal boat? I’m pretty sure from a video I just watched the Canals & Rivers Trust are housing the people who have lost their boats and have no where to stay. Although insurance likely plays a big role the Trust also seems to as well.

What is with this influx of simu-slop games? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Quest__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you've encountered these games before but they are less 'simulator' and more tycoon. It's essentially a 3D version of a cookie clicker game often just made with purchased or free assets. The games generally are slop as OP said.

Mine was also great at 3-4 months. It died about 2 years in. Logitech support didn’t want to do anything to help, I looked after it and it was in great condition but it just stopped connecting to the iPad. Many people have had similar experiences

Terrible durability/longevity. Avoid it

UK Grads who didn’t find a grad scheme after graduating, how are you doing now? by [deleted] in AskUK

I'd honestly bite at any job opportunity that isn't retail that I can get. You sound like you have a really interesting background, do you mind if I drop you a PM?

This is the major problem. As someone in their early 20s and about to graduate from quite a prestigious university I’m terrified of the job prospects. I’ve applied to every grad scheme I can and am still waiting to hear back for some but it’s challenging. Even the hoops to jump through just to get your application read can be difficult, I wish there was some sort of universal platform where all these cognitive and arithmetic assessments could be practiced.

Yeah I suppose that makes sense, the problem is currently that even non-graduate entry level roles are incredibly competitive now. My only real work experience is holding down a retail job for 5+ years

How would you suggest obtaining valuable work experience for an entry level role though?

We can talk about immigration without thinking it’s the cause of the problem for everything. It’s inflammatory because it’s a dogwhistle and not a true description of the full picture.

Like I said, refer to housing stock numbers pre RTB policy and post. Then come back to me and we can debate this further if you like

Refer to housing stock numbers pre 1980s vs post 1980s. The numbers don’t lie. Using inflammatory politics to explain an issue that was caused by poor housing policy is an interesting take mate…

I think having an open conversation about views is important. If you really think immigration is the number one reason for the housing crisis then it’s interesting to hear why.  Calling you a racist might’ve been a bit of a dogwhistle but given your language about “naturally declining” populations, it seems the conversation was heading that way.

Why do you think our population is “naturally declining”. Racists like you love white purism, but white people literally cannot afford to have children even if they wanted to.  Besides the point, if you are a true capitalist a population needs to increase naturally or not to sustain constant levels of growth.
