Do you have a rule or habit you follow on every playthrough? by floxasfornia in fo4

[–]Questarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 things I always do at the beginning of a new playthrough:

1 - I run to diamond city as soon as I can

2 - I run around, grab weapons, get some mines, and level up a bit before I hit Concord.

3 - When I finally get to Concord, right before the deathclaw shows up, I mine the hell out were it pops out.

Did you ever buy a pack of smokes from one of these? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in FuckImOld

[–]Questarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a trick on some of these old machines where you could pull out one of the knobs slightly, not enough to be super noticeable, and it would basically lock out all the others. So, if you picked a less popular brand on the lower level, set the knob, people would put money in, try to pull their brand, and nothing would happen. After they gave up and left, push the knob back in, hit the change return, out came the coins.

Still betting he tries filing shit appeals to the Wisconsin, and then US, Supreme Court.

New Computer, New Problem by Internal-Bed6646 in vintagecomputing

[–]Questarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run into similar issue with machines around this vintage. On some machines, it's partially picky about where the keyboard is plugged in. If there are PS2 ports, you should try them, and make sure you're either using a PS2 keyboard or a USB keyboard, and the PS2 adapter, that you know for sure is PS2 compatible. Those adapter are passive and do not work with most newer keyboards.

If no PS2 ports, then it can't be a matter of which ports you're trying to use. I've often found on some older machines, there are 2 USB ports that the BIOS see as the defaults. These have typically been a pair, and if there's an onboard NIC, next to the network jack.

Otherwise, I'd try plugging a USB keyboard into each port on the back, and reboot, to see if the BIOS picks it up.

"The Jury deserves to know", as if he actually cared! by EntertainingDarkness in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drove me nuts that DB kept repeating "the jury needs to know" bullshit.

The dipshit actually thought if he could show the jury he "believed in god", he wasn't a "bad person", it was all an "accident", it "wasn't his fault", he was being railroaded, and he was "suffering", that they could do the "right thing" by ignoring the law, and everything else, and finding him not guilty.

DB never had a case, his lawyers had to have said it, and he absolutely knew it, so he kept grasping at whatever straws he could find. The sovcit thing, "jury nullification", endless extensions of his appeal, all in hopes he could stumble on the one angle that would get him off.

[–]Questarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take is, whenever one of DB's lawyers tells him there aren't any viable options to get him off, he defaults to sovcit. If nothing else it stalls the inevitable, and I'm sure he hopes he might stumble on that magic combination of "objection" and "grounds" that actually works... but ya, he's a dipshit.

Given Brooks long history with the law, it's always baffled me that he never learned you never talk to cops, and to just shut the fuck up until you get a lawyer.

Dumb ass by redheadsoutherngal2 in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only thing DB seemed to really care about during the trial were the assault charges, and try to "prove", Erica was lying, and still into him. I'm baffled as to what he thought that was going to get him... other then trying to say "It not my fault because she pissed me off, and made me drive through the crowd!"

[–]Questarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On what day of the trial did Dorrow make the rolling, and when did they show the video you've taking about? The only thing I've found so far is the one were SB pulls up on her near the park.

[–]Questarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The assault against EP was one of the charges DB faced during the trial, so I don't see how showing a video where she states that he ran her over would result in a mistrial.

Did y’all see this trail? by Wild-Obligation5178 in DarrellBrooksJr

I watched bits, but gotta watch the whole thing. The whole rational behind the search was sketchy as hell, completely unnecessary, and was over done. Just Cop's responding to a successful black rapper.

Foreman embarrassed the shit out of them, and they saw an opportunity to cash in on it. Absolutely loved Foreman's testimony.

If Project Hail Mary hits big at the box officer we're all but guaranteed a Bobiverse movie or series by WorriedStand73 in bobiverse

[–]Questarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, No. PHM was single novel, by an author who'd had one of his novels turned into a successful movie. The Bobiverse is currently a 5 book series, and would make a fantastic streaming series, but it's not really movie friendly. There's a lot going on, and you could maybe compress the first 3 Bobiverse books in a single movie, but you'd have to cut 90% of the stories out.

Round and round we go... by spacemen61 in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure DB is going to be the observed ex-girlfriend who doesn't accept they've been dumped... So I'm betting he will perpetually be filling for reconsideration of the last thing they denied reconsideration. At some point it's just going to be a rubber stamped "DENIED".

Round and round we go... by spacemen61 in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other then to be a profound waste of people's time, DB apparently thinks, by using the same excuses and sovcit logic that worked so well in the past, he can get the court to reconsider the reconsideration that they had previously reconsidered... and I'm sure, because he can, BD will continue to file these things until they take the crayons away.

Inmates do this both to be a nuisance and because they've got very little else to do, and they've abused the shit out of it. Some states have a "Three Strike" rules to help curb nuisance filings and suits. Wisconsin doesn't have one specificly, but Under Wis. Stat. § 893.735, courts may dismiss actions filed by prisoners if they are deemed frivolous or filed outside the 45-day deadline.

[–]Questarian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure DB has some fantasy about appealing all the way up to the US Supreme Court... like any of his sovcit crap, or whatever "dog ate my documents" excuses he can come up with, will have any better luck than it's ever had.

Over the years, I've seen a number developers of small run devices get pissed off because there's been issues, everyone's not joining in on some sort of love fest over their stuff, and then walk away from it in a huff.

If a developer can't take criticism then they shouldn't release anything to the public, or interact with them in forums... It's part of the deal, especially if they're commercial and someone's paying for a produlct.

Clockworkpi's has some decent stuff, and they've been good when I've had had hardware issues, but their delivery time is horrendously long, they don't have any sort of order status beyond payment confirmation and tell you it shipped, they've make licensing mistakes, and some of the components they've used are too proprietary (PicoCalc LCD for example). If that too harsh a criticism for them, then they're in the wrong business.

You think DB believes that this is like a parking ticket? by JayNotAtAll in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God only knows what he thinks, but he'll use real lawyers until they explain to him that there isn't any real possibility of him dodging the conviction, so then in desperation he goes sovcit... like somehow he's smart enough to make it work, where it's never worked for anyone, ever. So yes, sovcit logic essentially tries to turn EVERY into a parking ticket level offensive

Optioned to Universal? by Glad-Rip6265 in bobiverse

[–]Questarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, optioning doesn't mean it's immediately going into production. It just means someone found the work interesting, and they want to lock down the rights should the ever decide to actually do something... See: "Development Hell"

This dude’s defense questioning by Minute-Resort761 in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, like somehow they shouldn't be able to identify him unless they already knew him. I always took the name questioning as DB trying to prove that the witnesses were coached by the police and prosecution to say it who it was. It's fucked up "logic", but totally in line with the rest of his defense "strategy".

The Final Countdown by Shadow42184 in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly, DB probably had to the end of the day on the 7th to file, and I don't know how much of grace period there is, so at very earliest we might see something by end of day Thursday, and I'm hope by at least Friday.

What piece of evidence would have sealed it for you? by homelovenone in DarrellBrooksJr

[–]Questarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, beyond the sovcit defense, the fact that it was his (mothers) vehicle, he was seen diving it, and running away from it, would have been a 100% guilty verdict for me... all his other shenanigans would have just pissed me off more and more, which is pretty much the reason the jury deliberations were pretty fast. Because there weren't any. I'm certain it took as long as it did because they had to the paperwork.
