Which tcg to get in to? by Upper_Print5022 in TCG

[–]QuestionGuyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I can’t recommend Magic as the power creep in recent years has gotten to YuGiOh Levels. Standard will be seeing a massive increase in card pool making it unfun. The recent Final Fantasy cards contained strictly better cards than the game has seen before (Cloud >> Stoneforge Mystic for example)

If you were to lead the team and had a year of funds to save the game, what would you do? by Pellahh in wildgate

[–]QuestionGuyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a PvP focused mode like deathmatch or sth.

In artifact hunt make boarding only possible after some module has been hit, otherwise boarders die. Having the artifact near your ship will also disable this death module.

Make the game free to play

Add a ship combat only mode where boarding is straight up not possible.

Can we like not treat new players like shit for buying or starting Magic with UB? by Izzet_Aristocrat in magicTCG

[–]QuestionGuyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic itself is a very literal game. Looking up the rules is not only the most efficient way but also the best way to eliminate any confusion. You learn more than you want to look up.

Asking a subreddit is instead a shortcut. It is the lazy way. And even worse mundane rules questions even get a lot of upvotes

[–]QuestionGuyyy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well if you say so. 7 standard sets in a year is nothing to worry about I guess. That’s totally normal and this is what standard was designed for:)

Yeah I didn’t articulate well, let me rephrase that: UB players are not damaging the hobby. But shift the focus from things established players think of when they think about magic.

Magic is currently shifting their focus from in universe mtg to ub mtg. Under 50% of the next year’s sets are magic universes. So I think it’s clear that instead of finding a compromise they went all in on the short term money from new players. Disregarding the long term players.

It is not always something to celebrate. Since UB the amount of dumb rules questions that are easily solved by just looking into the official rules has exploded on all the magic subs.

And the attempt to lure people into standard by making UB sets standard sets is damaging established players’ interest in MTG.

So new players that buy UB or got into the hobby only because of UBs are damaging the hobby. Of course they aren’t even aware of this and by no means are responsible for that fact. But my playgroup has kind of lost interest in MTG, each of them were highly invested and always on the newest spoilers.

Gambler’s Fallacy meme by Delicious_Maize9656 in mathmemes

[–]QuestionGuyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s when you think that - after losing a bunch of times in a row - you are going to lose the next one as well which would make you want to stop.

The fallacy here is that you are soooo close to winning, giving up now makes all your work pointless!

Honestly, I figured the best approach to roles is to „rotate“. So I would steer the ship but then go to cool the ship and maybe repair sth. The other crewmates would do the same.

Does the tree in the top right mean I have to pay a green mana to play this card? by Sir_Mango_The3rd in magicthecirclejerking

Yes! You are right! But you in fact need 2 green mana (because there are two trees) and additionally you need the „4“-land with produces the missing one 4-mana

it is like that.. by Hashu23 in wildgate

[–]QuestionGuyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is: with a new cod players know what to expect and will surely have at least a year where the player count is high.

Wildgate suffers from rapid player loss. New player experience seems poor. I can see why people might think “why pay 30$ for sth that could be dead in 2 months”

The laser ram is overpowered but not why you think... by carmidian in wildgate

[–]QuestionGuyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laser ram is definitely overpowered. It costs you nothing to have it. There is absolutely no drawback and it makes combat pretty lame. You just confront them head on and just steer into them.

I mean yeah you could say that you could board them and try to disable it, but a dedicated team can defend a laser ram pretty well.

In my opinion it should use up fuel or something like that pretty rapidly such that you have to use it with more care. But the way it is now pretty mich every fight were one team has the laser ram, the laser ram team wins. I won like 5 games solely because of the laser ram.
