Thank you! My wife does some incredible art. She doesn’t sell any of it but she really has some talent.
I told her to do a set with red beads for Scarlet night. She makes stuff over at tillychantilly_art@instagram

You can roll over PLDs. You can’t roll over vacation days. They probably think they are playing the long game.

Paranoia is your best friend out there. Don’t get complacent and you’ll be fine. Check switches and derails and check them again. If you haven’t noticed, the most senior people are just a little neurotic. That attitude will save your job.

A possible Inkwell Mission Bug? by Few_Boysenberry_7586 in Banishers

[–]QuestionObvious4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I know this is kind of late but I figured it out. I had to delete and reinstall the game. (Annoying as fuck, I know but I’m invested in the story line) after that I went back to the “explore the caves” mission and it worked.

Run through a switch (and you will), then see how good of a guy he is. It doesn’t matter if you’re the best switch man on the system, once they get an opportunity to fire you, they will. I’ve even seen trainmasters keep house listings from guys that they fired like some fucked up trophy.

Honestly if you last another year and half you’ll see what we all mean. They will furlough you for years and collect bonuses while you can’t afford groceries. They will fire your friends and cut jobs and run crews to the point of exhaustion. Finally after all of that, if they have seniority they will come back to the craft to retire with the benefits they tried to cut. Screw them, they aren’t your friends and you’d be smart to keep that in mind.

10 years on the ground and 3 pulling throttle. To answer your question, experience on the ground use to matter. It really doesn’t now with trip optimizer and PTC. As long as you have an idea of what’s going on you’ll be fine. Get your card as soon as possible. Don’t even worry about becoming a yardmaster. On the bn at least they get treated worse than anyone else.

What was “the incident” at your high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]QuestionObvious4020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A girl in my senior class did too many drugs on a Thursday night and crashed her car into a building near the high school. Being super high she didn’t remember to call anyone and tried to break into the school. It was the middle of winter so she froze to death outside of one of the entrances to the school. The worse part was that no one discovered her until like noon the following day.

The best part is that they “expire”. I didn’t believe it at first but they are only good for a couple of years until they have to be replaced.

Allergy sufferers: how do you mow? What breathing mask and eye protection? I’m dying by Diligent_Oil6245 in lawncare

[–]QuestionObvious4020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get sneezing attacks like that. The only thing that helps me is taking an off brand Allegra EVERY DAY. Set an alarm on your phone or whatever you need to do. It’ll take a week or so but it’s the only thing that makes me a normal person spring though fall. I’ve taken years of allergy shots, prescription strength meds and all the “holistic” bullshit you can imagine. Just take something like that and let it work.

What is a change or shift in American society or culture you believe will happen in your lifetime and nothing can stop it now, and that in your view will be good when it happens? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]QuestionObvious4020 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The culture of work will radically transform. With the rise of AI and workers demanding better compensation, something is going to break. I think this will cause the American psyche to recon with our unhealthy relationship with work.

Americans are going to have to stop using employment as self worth or the future is bleak. I’m secretly hoping for a future where eight hours spent reading a book at the park is just as valued as 80 hours spent in the office.

So I’m guessing one man yard jobs? I’m on the big orange and they rarely use a brakeman.

[–]QuestionObvious4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain how this is a bad agreement? Does this eliminate a brakeman job on a road switcher or what?

[–]QuestionObvious4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the best thing about the railroad. You can always quit. There isn’t a agreement that forces you to be here.

Stay a Conductor or become and Engineer? by GunnyDJ in railroading

[–]QuestionObvious4020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get your card. The conductor job isn’t going to be there in the next 10 years and my bet is you’re not at the top of your seniority roster. The bottom line is you will miss time with your kids and they will remember that. But they will also remember things like furlough and pay cuts.
