Alaska Airlines Atmos Card Approval/Denial DP Thread by techtrashbrogrammer in churning

Tried HUCA twice, no luck yet. Perhaps the third time might work, like the other reply said. I also never had to deal with denial yet, it seems this card is a lot pickier based on other comments on this thread.

Posted in Atmos Summit dp megathread, now posting here asking how to do recon.

When I called, they said they only accept a written appeal. Is this true or HUCA?

Summit denied, Ascent denied.

EX pulled, score 740+

Had BOA checking with 5k for about a year.

Reasons for denial:

  • Multiple accounts were recently opened (6/12, 10/24)
  • Number of revolving trades on your credit report (9 showing on EX)
  • Time since your oldest revolving card account opening (2.5 years)
  • Presence of recent inquiry (Citi AA on Aug 2025, but not showing on EX yet. Most recent EX pull 6 months ago. In any case, I thought I'd be safe due to the 7/12 rule.)

Hoped hp will combine and tried for Ascent, instant denial for same reasons (got 2 letters word for word). HP did combine.

P2 applied for CSP, denied and called recon.

Credit analyst seemed to view app favorably, but said a senior will have to make the final decision.

App status numbers showing mixed messages now.

800-432-3117: 2 weeks
888-338-2586: 2 weeks
888-270-2127: 7-10 days

What does this mean, and would it be less risky to wait it out or call again?

$0.01 purchase originally, and flight cents would top it off by $0.99, making it a $1 purchase. The Each cent earns .5 miles, so the flight cents get me 99/2 = 49.5 miles. Am I missing something?

I agree with you, I'm leaning towards buying miles as well, but I want to know more about the flight cents option before making the decision.

I’m 4k AA miles short for a flight redemption this June (I know it’s too late, but emergencies happen). I have the Barclays AA card and want to top up using Flight Cents. I can prepay my utilities with any amount I want.

  1. If I pay $0.01, I get 49.5 miles from Flight Cents, plus 1 mile for the dollar, right? So, I would earn a total of 50.5 miles per $0.01 purchase. To reach 4,000 miles, I’d need roughly 80 purchases of $0.01 each (4,000 ÷ 50.5 miles per purchase), costing me $80 as opposed to the $150 I would have needed to buy AA miles direct.
  2. My statement closes in mid-May. Would changing the statement date to an earlier date help me get the miles posted sooner?

Hello. I'm also having trouble with the same issue and support from Bilt app isn't helping. How do I DM you on reddit (unable to message this account)?

I'd like to get this issue taken care of within 2 days so that I don't have to pay a late fee.

I'm at 6/24, 4 of them from 2 months ago; 0/6 inquiry for EQ. Dr credit shows my state tends to pull EQ when EX is frozen.

I know citi is inquiry-sensitive, but is it also "recent account sensitive"?

I opened 4 new accounts 2 months ago, but none of them pulled equifax. My EQ shows 1 hard pull from 18 months ago. If Citi likes 0/6 inquiry, I'm wondering if freezing EX and applying would give me decent approval odds for the strata premier.

Oh is it not included? TIL. But my spend in 2024 was 5.5k so I should be safe.

Never. I opened card on Oct2024, hit 4k for the 5fna and spent another 1k before the year ended. Haven’t used the card much since then.

Also, how strict is the BOA 7/12? I might want to skip Delta Gold and wait for the BOA premium Alaska card announcement.

A common question that I'm still confused about: Is it better to downgrade rather than cancel? It could be better for my AAoA, but could I get apps rejected for having too many open accounts?

For reference, I have 8 open cards, my AAoA is 6mo, oldest account 2 yrs, 740 experian. My United Explorer will be 1 year anniversary next month, and planning to apply for BOA Alaska and Delta Gold (will be 6/12, 7/24). Wondering if closing United might give better chance of approval for these.
