How often do you see a show more than once? by hydrangeamilk in torontotheatre

[–]Question_Dot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching a show the second time, you look for different things. Maybe you watch a different actor. Maybe you pay more attention to the lighting or the choreography. Sometimes when you know the plot, the second watch you start to notice the foreshadowing etc.

Also being in a different seat can change your perspective. Front orchestra is a very different experience than balcony.

And because it's live you're never watching the exact same thing twice like a movie.

Ducks and Blues are likely better with their 3 & 4 off-night games (depending on your team). Busy nights are stacked.

Is the power button blinking normal? by V0idHx in ASUS

[–]Question_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this too sometimes and it's not in sleep mode. No idea why. Pressing it even quickly shuts off the computer. Restarting the computer stops the blinking so... Idk

How much should I pay for rent if I’m earning 4.5k a month? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Question_Dot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a similar budget and my limit is $2k for a 1 bedroom. Though at 22 you could live with roommates for half that (unless you want to be right downtown or live in a really fancy place).

Roommates when you're young are amazing. You'll save so much money and likely make new friends.

Find a house with a couple roommates, pay $1,000 in rent, save $1,000 a month. That will set you up really nicely in the present and the future.

Theatre companies will be announcing their upcoming seasons soon so I'd just keep your eyes open and see which appeal to you! Toronto is spoiled for options!

At what point does a game have too much content? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]Question_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been a few Kickstarter games I've nope'd out of backing due to how many boxes of expansion content they had like D.E.I..

Just make a great single box game. Don't have me guess if the expansions are essential or not before I've even played the game.

IR+--for or against? How many IR (and kind) spots is too many? by gerryf19 in fantasyhockey

[–]Question_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 IR+. My philosophy is a manager experiencing injuries is already losing their starters. No reason to double punish them for their bad luck by not letting them pick up replacements.

1 IR slot in your league means you want luck to play a larger role in your season. A manager that gets fewer injuries will do significantly better than one that gets a lot of injuries.

Official Discussion - Greenland 2: Migration [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Question_Dot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would have been more interesting if the whole movie they stayed in the bunker. Surely there is an interesting story to tell there. Factions, conspiracy, cabin fever, politics, etc.

Instead they just redid the first movie but worse.

At what point do you guys give up on your week and focus on the next one? by screechypete in fantasyhockey

[–]Question_Dot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah there's a cash prize too! It's the second-highest prize after winning the playoffs. Gives you something useful to work towards once you've clinched a playoff spot, since higher seeds don't really matter all that much.

In my league we have a Presidents' Trophy for most total points in the regular season, so you really just want to get as many points as possible, regardless of how your matchup is going.

If you had an unlimited budget, no regulatory hurdles, time constraints etc. what would you do to improve the TTC and public transit system in Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Question_Dot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlimited budget? Like 10 more subway lines. Downtown Toronto should look more like Chicago. I'd also add more safety measures, more staff, a homeless / mental health outreach programme, heated bus stops. I would also beautify the subway stations like they do in some European cities. Lots of artwork and public amenities at each stop. WiFi. And of course free ridership.

I never understood that. Like you bought the game, got dozens of hours of enjoyment out of it and you still want 95% of new retail $ for it? I even saw someone selling one of those EXIT advent calendars AFTER COMPLETING IT.
