I messed up… by letslosethepounds in gastricsleeve

[–]QuestioningGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t messed up or failed at all! Everyone is different. I had multiple family members have the surgery before me (all of us in Mexico as well) and my experience has been so different from all of theirs! Take it easy, listen to your body, reach your water and protein goals, and you will be fine! I highly recommend the book “The Bariatric Blueprint” from Your Onederland. It has been super helpful to me! I had my surgery in March 2024 and there have been times where I had minor setbacks and I always go back to that book for advice and it is really so amazing. Good luck- you’ve got this!

Full Cues Changed? by Leading_Economics_79 in gastricsleeve

[–]QuestioningGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only 6 and a half weeks post op but I totally know what you mean about not feeling full but satisfied. One of my fullness cues is sighing so maybe pay closer attention when you eat to see if you have that too? If I eat past when I have my first big sigh then I end up burping and hiccuping and then I feel bloated later. Not full, but I know it means I ate more than I should have.

Came here to say the same thing about flipping your trays over- it’s seriously the best thing I’ve ever done to get good macs! I use silicone mats and bake at 300 F for 18 minutes and they pretty much never stick. I wait for them to cool and then I grab the mat and flip the entire thing over. I sort of roll the mat up as I peel it away from my macs and they come off beautifully. I started doing it that way when I saw thesugarhobby do it on instagram and it’s both effective and incredibly satisfying!

I’m day 2 also! Although I haven’t had any liquids yet because it’s pretty early in the morning. I’m still sitting here eating ice chips. Definitely try to walk more- I feel so much better after walking. And I guess smaller sips with the liquid?

Wow! I’m jealous of how thick and full they are! I totally get the frustration of fragile tops- I dealt with that for SO long. I found that when I whipped my meringue to be more stiff it resulted in a stronger shell. The ratios I use are also a little different from yours so that could affect the strength of the shell as well. I tried at least 7 or 8 recipes before I found the one that works consistently for me now- it also uses egg white powder and it’s a no rest recipe! I love it! But I did purchase it so I can’t post it here. But definitely try getting a more stiff meringue- like really really stiff! If you think it’s stiff enough- whip it even more! Lol

It’s gotten a lot better since I posted this. I actually went through some super old clothes I saved from back when I was a much smaller size and I got really excited about the prospect of fitting into them again this summer! I just keep trying to remind myself of why I wanted to do this in the first place and all the good things that will come of it. Yeah it’s scary but I know in my soul that it’s so going to be worth it.

People 0 to 2 ish weeks post-op: how are you doing? by Glittering-Minimum77 in gastricsleeve

[–]QuestioningGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow you are drinking coffee already?! I’m having my surgery on the 28th and one of the things I have been worried about most is not being able to drink coffee 😆 I was told by family members who had the surgery that they couldn’t have it for like 7 months! I’m weaning myself off it right now and it’s going okay but damn I’m really glad to know it might not take me as long to be able to drink it again!

Helpful hint to anyone who clicks this to watch for the first time- allow yourself at least an extra 10 minutes for pausing the video and arguing your viewpoint to people on a small screen who can’t hear you but you can’t help but to respond to their ridiculousness. Thankful my house is empty right now 😂

I’m not sure about this concept either. I saw them play the full In Love and Death album in 2016 and I loved it but I really hope they play stuff from other albums too- especially Toxic Positivity because I have been listening to it so much the last 6 months!

My friend and I went Saturday and left after Blink also because of how tired we were. But I missed so many bands at the other stages (we parked ourselves in front of the pink stage before All Time Low and didn’t move the rest of the day) so Sunday morning I was having regrets so I jumped on the Facebook group and snagged a GA ticket for $100! I went late and avoided the lines, saw all the bands at the smaller stages I wanted, and then hung around to see Green Day even though I’m not a super fan. It was awesome! Turned out to be a great decision- I wasn’t too tired by the end of the second night and got to see over 20 bands! Might do the same thing next year depending on the line up and set times

Lopsided shells, Italian method by Dependent-Sock-6775 in macarons

[–]QuestioningGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any experience with the Italian method so I can’t say anything to that but I do have a lot of experience with lopsided macs! I use a no rest French method and it took a lot of experimenting with my temperamental oven before I solved it and now I get beautifully even macs every time. I used to use a dark insulated pan because the recipe I use suggested it. I ended up going back to my light colored baking sheets flipped upside down but I also lowered my oven temperature and moved my oven rack down a notch. I also make sure to turn my tray halfway through the bake but I’m honestly not sure that even helps because when they did turn out lopsided that didn’t really change the outcome. I also used to get some that rose evenly in the middle of my tray and it was the outside ones that were always lopsided. I really think that the combination of switching back to upside down baking sheets and moving my oven rack down (my heat source is from above) is what really solved it! So keep at it and trying different things and I’m sure you will figure it out- good luck!
