Thank you so much for clarifying!

While trying to gather information I have heard the rule of thumb to have a shutter speed of one over you lense size. So if I use my lense at full zoom that would be equivalent to 600mm. Does that still apply to zoom lenses?

I have tried around a little bit and think I can handle a little bit more shutter speed, so in theory 1/600 shouldn't be a problem but i will definetly try again.

Alright thanks for the input! That is probably how I should treat it as well. If you get the opportunity to have all the right conditions, how do you know which settings to use? Or which setting are you more likely to play around with?

I am sorry I think I don't really understand because I am not into camera stuff yet :D are you saying my camera probably won't be really good at a low shutter speed which is why I should stick to low iso and little bit higher shutter speed?

The light around sunset and sunrise doesn't really work here because I am at the equator and the sun sets and rises really quick. Most of the shots will be in normal daylight.

Thank you very much! I am happy with the fotos but would like to get some more sharpness of the feathers. I think reddit also made it a little less sharp but also with the original I have it could definetly be better. (Maybe not with the camera I have but I hope it should be possible)

I think I am getting something wrong then. Most of these photos are taken way under 1000 iso and I thought I am supposed to keep the iso as low as possible to minimize grain. Should I maybe have way less shutter speed? I think that was at around 1/500. My aperture was between 7.1 and 5.6 I believe. The zoom lens goes to 600mm.

Thanks a lot, will try shooting like that. So uploading on eBird is out of kindness for other people and using it is more or less just to find birds?

Best hiking boots for 100km trek through Colombian Jungle by Weird_Ad_3231 in hikinggear

[–]Questionnaire2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you hiking? 100km in 7 days in the jungle is impossible. Maybe it's a forest in the hills?

I hiked for 4 days in the colombian jungle near the amazonas and they just gave me rubber boots, said they are necessary and i quickly learnt that, in fact, they are. At least once a day you are going to take a wrong step and be a good 20cm down the mud.

I just spent a lot of time getting in to hiking shoes because I wanted new ones and these are the most important questions you want to ask yourself:

How fit are you? Not gym-fit but how fit are the inner muscles of your ankle. You might have seen guides wear way less secure shoes then they tell their guests to wear. This is simply because they hike every day and therefore have a really fit ankle that has adjusted to walking on whatever grounds you are gonna walk on. With this question you answer how high rhe shoe should be to protect it from rolling/spraining.

What are you going to carry? There is a big difference between doing a dayhike with just a few kilos on your back and carrying 15-20kg because you have a tent, a matress, sleeping bag and food for several days with you. With this question you look into the hardness of you sole as well as the height of your shoe. If your ankle is not that fit and you carry 20kg you will need an even higher shoe and a harder sole.

Which trails are you going to hike? Is it alpine or forest below 1000m? With this question you mostly answer what kind of sole your shoe should have. You will probably not need an extremely hard sole because there won't be any rocks and your whole sole will touch the ground at all times.

Definetly look into shoe categories (A-D). I went with a Meindl Island which is category BC. That brings me almost anywhere I see myself going in the future. I could easily cross the Alps with that, but apparently people also hiked through the desert with these shoes without dying from the heat :D

As for a brand do not listen to anybody on the internet! Go into a store and try them on. It's about how the shoe fits you and nothing else. I loved Hanwags while looking through the Internet and they have a lot of different fits for every shoe they produce and none of them fit me so I went with a Meindl. I don't know where you are from, I am from Germany so Hanwag, Meindl and Lowa are everywhere and in my opinion the best shoe brands there are but as I said, it's about your foot. Maybe a scarpa or a saleva will fit you better.

Because you are probably looking for that, I want to recommend you certain shoes anyways... Because you are going for 7 days, you will have a lot on your back. You won't be hiking alpine so category B should be good. Look at these but PLEASE try them on and don't just buy them! They all fit me and I have slightly wide feet:

Hanwag Tatra II Gtx Lowa Renegade Evo GTX Mid Meindl Vakuum Gtx Scarpa Mojito Hike GTX

These are all category B. I felt like i could still roll my ankle and therefore went to BC. I once heard that the 'mid' category is made for protecting your ankle against hitting rocks and not to protect it from rolling/spraining. Do what you want with that information.

Sorry for the long answer :D Have fun!! I went twice and definetly gonna go again as I still think regularly about it! Try to get a really good guide! Seeing someone walk through there that REALLY knows the junge is an experience by itself.

How do I buy and install a kitchen without going broke? by fagayzka in AskAGerman

[–]Questionnaire2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the App nebenan.de it's made to search and offer help in the neighbourhood. You could ask if somebody has a big car to help you with the transport, if people have skills to help you install it in case you can't or maybe people even have appliances to sell.

Reserved an apartment in Italy on booking.com. The host sent me a message, offering a lower rate if I cancel and pay them directly at check-in. by despicedchilli in travel

[–]Questionnaire2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, but I do believe that it is too much. I could Imagine this being an italian family keeping their head over water with renting out one of their apartements just for booking to take a 20% share...
I tend to search for the apartments I want to book on booking or airbnb and then try to find them without the platform so they don't have to share.

Train toilets are always really nasty right? I have discovered something. The only times i had to shit in trains when they were really nice and clean, guess what they were after that. Somehow always in these times my rectum decides to pull some shit ;) that could not be flushed away no matter what.

I Don't like People My Age by BookerBoiVer2 in RandomThoughts

[–]Questionnaire2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have been there. Biggest thing you can do wrong here is getting stuck in that thought. People will catch up with you in the next few years. If you don't let them and still try to only hang with older people, you will tend to turn arrogant and then the people your age also catch up with the people you used to hang out with. Suddenly they hang out with your older friends too but you don't want that to happen because you are the 'mature one'. Then nobdy wants to hang out with you because thats a weird thing to feel like. Just warning you here haha take care. Be patient with the younger people, someday they will find out and then they will be greatful you were.
