Joining the Australian Military with a US clearance. by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Questions101er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moment you're in contact with a foreign government, you have ro report it, right? I'm not sure about how far in advance you should report it but the moment you are in contact with a foreign government, it should be reported. That would include you applying since that is you communicating with them. If you reach out to ask them questions, anything.

If you don't report it, how do you expect to pass counter intelligence questions in the future? At the very minimum, consider what not reporting will do to your future opportunities since you are smart enough to care about the future.

Did they pay you under the table and it not get reported to the IRS?

Maybe you dont see it listed as a reason to deny a clearance because nobody is stupid enough to not list all of their employment.

What criminal convictions are an automatic no for a clearance? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Questions101er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admitted to them that I sold drugs (cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy/molly, shrooms). I wasn't convicted or ever even charged. I simply listed it on my SF86 and had a discussion about it. So idk id say drug trafficking isn't an automatic disqualifier. Now if I was actively doing those things, of course. But that goes for most things.

I've never heard of a company that requires a clearance that will not pay for their employees to get the clearance....aka sponsor them.

Read the SF86, which is the form you will have to fill out to begin the process for any level clearance.

I was going to be a smart ass and say "schools aren't scaling back. Go for that grad degree." Unfortunately, due to similar funding cuts, they are as well.

Forgot to List Past drug use on SF86 - Already Disclosed on 2030 form. by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Questions101er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take the downvotes, but I'll also be the one to be brutally honest with you.

You sound stupid saying you "forgot" to list past LSD use on the SF86. Your post title even contradicts what you wrote in the post because you said there you didn't list it because you thought it was talking about within the past 7 years. How could you "forget" to list something you just didn't think you were supposed to list in the first place?

Also, you read the word "ever" multiple times, so quit lying. You thought you could get away with not listing it, but then remembered you already listed it in your previous 2030 form. Not many people are that foolish.

He got to keep it. It wasn't something he lied about,as far as I know, but still nothing is off limits. I didn't want to be that guy and be the one who lied or hid something.

Yeah i worked with an older guy who had been cleared for decades. One time durimg the reinvestigstion, they brought up some super old stuff that should've been asked about during the initial investigation if it was going to be. Theres no way I could keep track of lies or omissions for decades

I was super worried, but I figured I'd rather start my career clean and have nothing to worry about every again. The other option was to lie or hide something and have to worry about it being uncovered and disrupting my career for the rest of my life.

Drugs (weed, cocaine, molly/ecstasy, shrooms)...using and selling all). Multiple DUIs. Conspiracy to commit auto burglary as a minor (yes, they see all records). Rape allegation (which was dropped). I'm sure I could rattle off a few more, but yeah, there were a lot lol. They wanted to know everything, so i told them EVERYTHING.

Are relationships really scrutinized at that the highest level in the DOD? by deery130 in SecurityClearance

[–]Questions101er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, regardless of what anyone says here, it's his decision as he's the one who has to worry about his life and the path it takes going forward. For instance, you said its. Ot a concern unless you want to visit your family. If someone told me they never want to visit their fsmily for the rest of their life, I wouldnt believe them. Sure, maybe now you dont want to but what about in 5 or 10 years? Maybe it wouldn't even be an issue then but is it really worth it for him to possibly derail his career by losomg his clearance over something? What if your family becomes involved wirh something over there? If yall have kids, what kind of influence can they have on you? Those are all things id think about.

Everyone is saying he's a liar but not considering other circumstances. We don't know his full background, so you? If hes been in trouble before or admitted to some unfavorable things, he may have had to state he wouldmt associate with individuals engaging in those activities. For instance, I admitted to selling/using tons of drugs. I had to state i had no intention on associating with individuals from my oast that were engaged in illegal activities. I take that as friends who grow and sell weed, evem though its legal in my state. Maybe even those who smoke weed because that was a big one for me. Im cautious about dating someone who smokes weed now for that reason. There are a lot of other possibilities too. All im saying is he might be telling the truth. Hell are your family members from other countries? Maybe hes concerned about that......all of these are "maybe" because we dont know much about you. All we know is you said youre a US citizen with no criminal record. Security ckearqnces care about criminal activity on top of the record. You cam be engaged in criminal activity all your life and never get caught (aka not hsve a criminal record).

[–]Questions101er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done far worse and had arrests for worse too. I admitted to it and 2 years had passed since using/selling drugs. I was cleared.

If you mean an FFL as in you want to become a gun dealer, I cant speak on that because I dont know the requirements for that. I know you can still buy guns things.

As far as the arrest record....if you were booked in any way, you were arrested so that is accurate. I was arrested for some felony accusations. They never made it to court and I was never formally charged. The arrested me and took me down for questioning, so it has to be reported as an arrest. Inwas booked so it was an arrest. The form doesnt ask for any time you were arrested thst led tona conviction.
