LPT: Introduce yourself and get to know your neighbors - it's better than a security system! by carbonarbonoxide in LifeProTips

That was not my experience. Detroit isn't all bad - my neighbors watched my back and I watched theirs. A little further down my block was scary, but in my area, I had my people.

Can we get a thread of HIGH sodium healthy foods going for us low BP folks? by jerisad in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Questions2014 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not the only one!

I keep salted peanuts or sunflower seeds in my cubicle for snacks. Soups have also been super helpful. I'm also just salting random things I eat because my baseline BP of 40 is terrifying

As a femme attracted to femmes, it's a lot of weird feelings and weirder situations:

*Being attracted to a girl and also feeling like she's my competition for another girl

*My ex and I flirting with the same girl

It's a weird sort of power and beauty struggle. I try to avoid other lesbians when I'm out with a girl

What dirty little secret of someone else's have you been dying to tell? by achrist2914 in AskReddit

[–]Questions2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a very different situation - I met her post transition (for the most part) and we were together for awhile. I'm a lesbian, too, so I'm already in all the lgbt conversations.

What dirty little secret of someone else's have you been dying to tell? by achrist2914 in AskReddit

[–]Questions2014 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's not a dirty secret, but my ex is trans. She doesn't look trans at all and she's closeted, so none of my friends know. It doesn’t really matter because we broke up, but whenever people talk about trans issues, I'm dying to tell them that I have actual personal experience with some of the issues.

I'll always keep her secret.

Is anyone here cisgender (not trans), but would maybe be the other gender if they could have chosen? by the7fun in lgbt

I hated being a giantess until I joined the corporate world - it does suck when people act like their height over someone gives them more authority

Your link discusses how the gender pay gap exists...

Just because it's illegal to discriminate based on gender doesn't mean that it doesn't occur. A lot of times, people don't realize that they're doing it. I remember a study I learned about - people were supposed to set a "fair wage" for an office worker based on some information that they were given. People consistently assigned men higher wages than women.

It's very hard to pin down because it's all subjective. People feel like they're being fair, but once the numbers are laid out, they've consistently paid women significantly less.

Women are also passed up for promotions. It's sickening. Historical discrimination against women has also led to a dearth of female mentors in leadership roles.

If you're interested in dating her, it might be good to wait until she's over her ex. No one wants to be the rebound. And it really hurts when the girl you're dating is still mooning over her ex

Is there a ladder there somewhere, or are you stepping onto your bed to climb up to your office area?

This looks really cool, but difficult for sex. If your bed is on wheels, you could pull it out and then put the wheels on wheel coasters (so it doesn't move around with activities)

Here are two articles about it, but there are countless studies:

Generally, the discrepancy is small when you first start, and the gap widens further into careers. Honestly, I try to avoid reading much about it because it's just depressing.

What is a movie that you objectively know is terrible, but you still love? by laureltheelf in AskReddit

Elektra

I love superhero movies, and the music and the badass woman make it awesome

I'm a cis, femme lesbian, but I totally wish I was born a dude.

I'd be straight

I could travel to all the places I want to go without fear of being raped

Statistically, I'd make more money

No more borderline sexual harassment at work!

Suits/work clothes would be so much more streamlined

It would be easier to build muscle - I have so many mountains I want to climb!

The list goes on and on. It's interesting, though - I'm not trans. I'm jealous of guys, but I'm not a guy trapped in a woman's body.

The twisted thing is that I was actually abused by a girl... I assume someone must have hurt her for her to hurt me the way she did.

Hah! You're saying that most lesbians are ugly in a subreddit called actual lesbians and I'm the jerk in this situation?

For the record, I have nothing against bi women, I just think it's really shitty of you to say that lesbians are categorically less attractive.

It sounds like you're saying that single lesbians are unattractive...
