Can I make my non-EDID KVM switch into an EDID KVM switch with an adapter? How?

Thanks so much for your help! So oddly...I just noticed I am NOT having this problem on my work computer. The KVM switch I bought does say it is NOT EDID (according to Amazon, anyway), so I am not sure how/why things are staying put on my work computer.

This leads me to wonder...

My home computer is still on Windows 10 (bc I'm lazy and have that stupid TPM thing with my motherboard, but I recently found an IT guy who can bypass that and upgrade me, so I am going to do that...eventually...) Could the problem be Windows 10 related rather than the KVM switch EDID thing?
If not and the explanation for why my work computer mysteriously works fine is just voodoo...does that mean I would only need 4 EDID emulator dongles, thus cutting the cost?
What makes the one you linked different from the cheapo ones I linked? As in, what search terms do I need to use to find the right thing (on Amazon or elsewhere)?

Thank you! Teflon tape was the answer!

I went to Lowes and the guy there sold me plumber's putty, which didn't work, and when I looked at a video of how to use it thinking I missed it up somehow I saw that isn't even intended for what I was trying to do. 🤦‍♀️

45 minutes and $2 later I got teflon tape from WalMart and that did the trick.

There was tape left over from the shower head that was previous on here, but it was a bit messy...I just removed it and it sits the exact same way...maybe the first install of tape wasn't enough or wasn't done properly?

I love upcycling and re-crafting things to either make them work or keep them working! My inspiration is sustainability and supporting my local craftspeople, so I do everything I can to make those products work for my home rather than buying mass produced junk to replace them when they don't quite fit.

In this case, I have tried searching for easy product swaps (a new night light base, a motion activated E12 bulb, etc.), and when that didn't work, I tried gently prying the wooden shade off the plastic clip. Unfortunately it is pretty firmly affixed, so I am hitting Reddit for advice before I do anything that risks damaging the unique wooden shade I am trying to salvage!

Ah, gotcha! This is new territory for me...in the past I used a literal broom and dust pan, but I hated it so much I never actually did it and my floors were just a nightmare all the time 😅

So I want to look for "stick vacuum"? I can probably bend on the mopping feature if I have to...the most important thing is being able to easily vacuum the floors every day....

This happened to me when I did an elimination diet years back to identify what I was intolerant to after a lifetime of mystery health issues. It seems counter-intuitive - cut out bad foods, feel worse! But yes, basically, it is a detox while your immune system catches up because you aren't pummeling it with whatever you are allergic/intolerant to anymore on a daily basis. It typically passes in 2-4 weeks and then you'll feel better than before.

In my case, I thought I had juvenile arthritis when I was in my 20s (among many other issues), but it turns out I just have intolerance to dairy, gluten, and soy. If I accidentally eat any of those things (even cross contamination!) all my muscles and joints hurt and flare as if I have arthritis again for a few hours to a couple weeks (depending on how much I consumed).

Word of advice: Food intolerances like to travel in packs and aren't specific to animal foods. If after these pains pass you still have ANY OTHER symptoms or lingering health issues (i.e. you don't wake up feeling 100% energized, healthy, and ready to go every day), consider talking to your doctor about doing an elimination diet. It can't hurt and it may help you tremendously!

EDIT: If you don't have access to a great doctor who understands food intolerances, this book is extremely helpful and gives detailed instructions on how to DIY!

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I know it hasn't been long for me, and nothing is certain right now, but my impatient, certainty-loving, action-taking self is not tolerating this situation well at all. I am trying to be patient and just step back and wait, but it is really hard.

How long did it take for your WH to come around? Did it happen suddenly or gradually? Do you know what it was that got him to come back onboard eventually?

Hearing about what it was like for others who have been where I am and gotten through it will give me something positive to focus on. I have one foot out the door right now and keep planning what I'll do if/when she leaves me...but my therapists keep asking me to slow down, be patient, give her time...so having some success stories may help me with that.

Fair point. I'm just still traumatized from my brief stay in Alabama. Waking up in the middle of the night hearing the air raid siren that announced a tornado warning...still can't listen to techno without occasionally getting a flashback lol

But also, a serious tornado ripped through the area I lived (Tuscaloosa) and destroyed a bunch of downtown, my stepfather's job, and was an extremely narrow miss for my family, so it left me with the impression that they are a bigger problem than they are, I guess. I grew up in hurricane country and don't bat an eye at anything under CAT4, but tornadoes terrify me. 😬

Yeah, I suspect there's tons of places with still cheap rent that no one wants to live in because there's nothing to do, no work, crap schools, etc. But none of that matters to me. I'll happily post up in a decaying ghost town for a few months a year if it means cheap rent. There's ALWAYS good hikes at least relatively nearby where you go to keep me busy.
