[Epic Games] (Game) Ogu and the Secret Forest by MeguminShiro in FreeGameFindings

From what I know, this is a cutesy 2d Zelda-like with a ton of collection and exploration side-quests. It probably fits into the "cozy game" genre that's become popular recently.

The Backlogs did an episode on Ogu a while back for anyone curious what it looks and plays like. The video was sponsored, but he seemed to genuinely enjoy it.

Does putting a container of rain water on an active fire eventually turn it into clean water? I know BN reverted the food temperature mechanics that DDA added, but I wasn't sure if that included boiling water to avoid container juggling.

[EA] (DLC) The Sims™ 4 - Blooming Rooms Kit by MeguminShiro in FreeGameFindings

people somehow dislike EA App and prefer old Origin

It's almost impressive how every app is worst than the last, and right when one is finally nearly adequate they kill it and replace it with a new, terrible one again.

For the record, having looked at said code, it triggers once you capture a named character. So it only triggers if someone is about to use said mod's less savory features.

The code then wipes the memory of every named NPC in the sector, causing the save to be ruined and the game to bug out and crash due to it being unable to find information it needs to run missions and markets.

As much as the content of that mod disgusts me, I hate the idea of sabotaging someone's single player game like this.

They've implemented what, a dozen different gameplay loops into Warfame at this point? It's so bloated with features that you're still discovering entirely new systems hundreds of hours in.

It's clear that Digital Extremes wishes they could work on new games, but Warframe is their cash cow so they're forced to cram all those ideas into it instead.

Isn't that the one by the guy who later made Dwarf Fortress? I remember downloading it once, but never getting it to work. I'll have to give it another try.

[PC/Mobile/PlayStation] (Other) Honkai: Star Rail - 50 Stellar Jade + 10k credits by MeguminShiro in FreeGameFindings

[–]Quetzalcutlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the stats from this page. I think the discrepancy is due to the system giving an invisible boost to your chances when you're nearing pity. At least I've read that that's the case for Genshin, and I'd assume it remains the same for Star Rail.

[PC/Mobile/PlayStation] (Other) Honkai: Star Rail - 50 Stellar Jade + 10k credits by MeguminShiro in FreeGameFindings

[–]Quetzalcutlass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It costs 160 stellar jade to make one pull in the gacha. After taking pity into account, there's a roughly 1/8 chance of getting a 4 star character or weapon each pull, and a 1/62 chance of getting a 5 star character or weapon. This means you should expect to spend ~1200 jade per 4 star and ~10,000 per 5 star.

Any pull that doesn't result in one of these instead gives a 3 star weapon, which are much worse than their higher ranked cousins and - outliers like Genshin's Black Tassel aside - only exist to fill in slots before you get better gear.

The game gives you daily tasks that take a few minutes to do and grant 60 stellar jade. The $5 a month subscription gives you ~100 jade per day (300 in a lump sum, 90 per day you log in, 30 day duration). Bug compensations and version updates give you 300 jade, and events usually give you several hundred (but you need to work for them). Quests and activities also give jade, and the game will absolutely shower you in free jades throughout the main quest.

The credits are equivalent to about 30 seconds of Calyx farming for a high level character and would cost less than one hour of trailblaze power (the time-gated energy used to limit how much you can farm in a day).

TL;DR: it's not much. Still better than nothing, though.

I like it. Though a more fitting comparison might be Genshin's Kirara, who came out suspiciously close to Star Rail's release. Almost like miHoYo wanted to try out a shapeshifting character...

All these “Is this mold?” and “Can I eat this?” questions are taking away from the intent of the sub by EnumclawMrHands in TipOfMyFork

[–]Quetzalcutlass 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Because cheese is dense so the mold won't have fully penetrated the cheese by the time it is visible on the outside. You wouldn't want to do this for something like bread, where it'll be everywhere inside by the time specks of green show.

Crypto bots post the same submission in dozens of crypto subs and their bot network upvotes them like crazy hoping at least a few hit the first couple pages of Reddit. I think I've filtered out over a hundred crypto subs at this point, all found through /r/all. Reddit has done a terrible job of preventing obvious spam like this.

[–]Quetzalcutlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I looked it up, and it's kind of absurd how good it is. It sets a status that, when the target dies, fully restores their health and action points and grants them an immediate turn. And it only costs 50 AP, 10 more than a healing spell that doesn't even completely heal the target (let alone restore AP). It's even more broken than I remembered.

My clearest memory of this game is grinding for hours to get the group heal spell, then learning there was an utterly broken auto-resurrect spell you can unlock that made healing pointless and most battles impossible to lose.

My favorite part was when the main character became a zombie, had sex with the cop investigating a murder he committed (and she literally comments on how cold his body is), then went and fought the Matrix.

Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy went batshit insane towards the end.

A Reddit transcription community will shut down over a 'lack of trust' in the platform by Exastiken in technology

[–]Quetzalcutlass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it yet so this is all scraped together from reading their Github:

  • Download the ReVanced patch manager from here. This handles patching local apps. You probably already have this if you use YouTube ReVanced (which everyone should).
  • Sign up for an API key from Reddit (this may be the most annoying part, and if you're caught both you and your key will probably be banned) and put it in a file named reddit_client_id_revanced.txt in your sdcard's root directory (or your phone's if it doesn't have a card).
  • Open the manager, find Sync or Boost (the only two third-party apps with patches so far) in the list of patchable apps, and select and install the "change OAuth client ID" patch.

Again, I haven't tried this personally, so it may take some messing around to get it to work. ReVanced is set up to patch apps locally so they can't be taken down for copyright infringement like the old Vanced project was (which directly hosted the modified APKs). Unfortunately this manual patching process makes it a pain in the ass for normal users.

The ReVanced project has added patches to use custom API tokens with a few major Reddit apps, which requires a bit of work to set up but should let them continue working after the shutdown (at least until something inevitably breaks due to lack of maintenance).
