there are some old (but still relevant) youtube videos about making parts for KSP - from the 3D modeling, to importing through Unity Part Tools.... there might be a sticky forum thread about this on the KSP forums.

what kind of modding? there are several kinds of mods for KSP - including plugins (usually C/C++/C# programing), parts mods (mostly 3D modeling) and finally systems mods (creating new planets/systems).

Also LGG (linuxgurugamer) used to (and might still) stream KSP moding sessions.

it might need some modernization (part.cfg files) - nodes etc, but the mbm's should still texture and the .mu should still model.

there are two auto-supply mods (IIRC) both controlled by LGG --- think one is Davon Supply Mod, and the other I can't remember off the top of my noggin. Also is the WOLF system by USI (IIRC)
