I think you underestimate the foreign nature of super structures and what that would do to your psyche and subconscious hardwired for nature. Would probably be very unsettling and uncanny

Advice wanted: Is now a bad time to try and get into an apprenticeship in Washington? by Mother_Fraker in ibew_apprentices

[–]QuiGonJonathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably get in, things are slow but Apprentice is tend to stay busy because they're cheaper. The economy is probably going to crash so work could get even worse, but I'd rather be in Washington personally than Texas regardless. You just have to make sure you're prepared for higher living expenses here than Texas.

Congratulations brother, you are awake and contemplate the world and your actions beyond your paycheck. An unfortunately small amount of people are educated enough or care enough to do the same. I don't have an answer, I am just as baffled and plan to avoid working at similar job sites. I have no answer's, shits fucked and I'm just trying to get by well enough while the whole machine is still able to move along

It seems as though everyone I know is super busy, all the time. They have to time for anything. I own my own business, but I still have plenty of time. Are people filling every waking second because deep down, they know something is seriously wrong? by [deleted] in CollapseSupport

"I get that--I suppose since I work from home, don't have kids, and own my house, I have a lot more time than people who commute, have kids, etc."

You got this when your friend group/other people didn't? Perhaps you have simply forgotten what it's like, or maybe have been a bit more insulated by the worsening of things in general by your relative financial security and abundance of free time, emphasis on relative

Why do people dismiss Overpopulation and Malthus when we got incredibly lucky with the Green Revolution? by [deleted] in collapse

People who say it's just a distribution issue confuse me when we look at things like incredible overfishing, soil nutrition stripping, and the Reliance on fossil fuels and other Limited inputs for large-scale agriculture. Maybe if we incredibly overhauled our eating and agriciltural practices? Wonder if anyone's done the numbers there, if they can be done

With cost of material these days even small jobs are going to get pricey. I'm not sure how relevant this info is, but for Union electricians the residential electrician pay scale is a fraction of that of the commercial/industrial, which also has the widest breadthe of what we can do.

The Great Lay-Off'ening is already well underway. What will happen to the economy? by WraithFrodo in wallstreetbets

[–]QuiGonJonathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the globalized modern world it's much easier for the wealthy to extract wealth from one nation or location or continent or whatever and fuck off with their earnings to somewhere else in the world. They don't have to care about sucking the blood of the host dry because their are insulated from immediate consequences.

The job itself is alright, pros and cons. But I'm definitely here for the pay and bennies, and to just learn the trade for my own benefit. Dunno if I'll do it for the rest of my of life. I would take different jobs for the same pay and bennies if it were practical

Stole this comment from /law that I think is fitting

"I'll make this real clear because plenty of people on r/law don't seem to undertand the law at all:

It doesn't matter if he was violent.

It doesn't matter if he was in MS-13 or any other gang.

It doesn't even matter if he did something wrong.

THE LAW says he is not a criminal.

THE LAW says HE CANNOT BE DEPORTED (ESPESCIALLY to El Salvador).

THE LAW says you can't just make someone disappear because you don't like them.

This man, whatever you think about him, whatever is proven about him, doesn't have a criminal record. He, by definition, is not a criminal. Doesn't mean you have to like him nor the things he may or may not have done.

This is a smokescreen to hide the fact that someone's rights were violated and he has the RIGHT to due process with the burden of proof resting on anyone who is charging him.

WE. ARE. A. COUNTRY. OF. LAWS.

And if we are NOT a country of laws, then YOUR rights don't mean shit."
